Hw97. 20 and. 22

Hello friends.

I would like to hear from actual owners how accurate those calibers are out of the box (no tuning) and at what speed they are shooting with which pellet.

I know from my own experience that. 177 is very good but I sold this rifle long ago.

Looking for bigger caliber because were I leave is always wind and you know how that goes with.177.

Regards

I have them in all calibers and it depends on what you intend to use it for. I started off in 177 then 20 then 22 but the 177 is the most accurate and easiest to shoot out to 50 yards in any condition based on shooting my own guns. If I had to choose only one it would be the 177. If you are target shooting or hunt feather out to 50 then get another 177 if you want to hunt feather or fur out to 35 to 40 yards more like 35 yards then go 22. The 20 is in between and IMHO better off with 177 or 22 since owning these 3 and my 22 is tuned 675 to 720fps depending on pellet. I really have to mention if you want significantly better accuracy in any caliber whether 177 or 22 in a Springer get a Diana 54 or 56 if long distance accuracy is of utmost importance to you shooting in unfavorable weather conditions. If you need it to recoil then an unturned straight out of the box Walther LGV 22 is easier to shoot accurately than my tuned 22 HW97k. YO!

I like my .22 HW97...it likes JSB 15.89 gr.JSB Jumbos ...JSB RS 13.43 gr.

RWS professional line 14 gr. and most of the H&N heavy pellets...

It seems to me you find the right grain pellet that shots the best and go from here=velocity and weight of pellet go hand in hand...then the shape

And quality....you pay more for the "target" ammo=better quality and to me worth a little more because it is a faster way to get to the point, which is finder what pellet shots the best in your rifle...

A "blanket" statement...most of the time I find the English brands shoot better.....even thou a lot of them are not made in England,Why is that???

I own 5 Springers. Only one is a .22, the rest are .177. Can’t speak for the .20, I have inquired about it a couple times. Will probably, maybe pick one up one of these days if for nothing else but to try for myself.

Own two HW97s, both are in .177. I find it very capable of taking down tree rats at 35 yards with very good accuracy. The HW97 is very consistent and I recently posted a video on it shooting over a whole month where it printed 1/2” group, minus a flyer due to wind (or me) I am sure the gun can do better with someone else behind the trigger.

I can alternatively wholeheartedly recommend the Walther LGV. Break-barrel with fixed barrel accuracy.

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks intenseaty22 actually it was your video that reminded me of my old hw 97kt and that I wan't one again.

I comented on your video but must say again very good idea about 30 days poi chalenge I like those videos.

YES! I saw that. 😆 Thanks. I have been doing a series with the guns I own. I need to do one with the .177 LGV.

Also, check out the LGU, I hear great things about it. Although the trigger on the Weihrauchs is better, the Walthers are excellent shooters.

Thanks Iornox unfortunately where I live it’s nearly impossible to get the Crosman Premiers. Fortunately though my Hw77 loves the Barracuda Greens. Yesterday for the first time I stretched it’s legs on paper past 30 metres after talking to Intenseaty22.

15 shots @ 36 metres resting the back of my hand on the bag using the artillery hold, slight breeze, 2 flyers that were probably me or the wind, cant blame them on anything else😊. 20 mil, about three quarters of an inch horizontally and vertically if you ignore the two flyers.

I apologise Blejda for hijacking your thread but don’t dismiss the Hw77. I like the longer barrel it seems more elegant to me.

Blejda I don’t see many of the K models for sale in Australia, either that means nobody wants to sell theirs or there aren’t that many. There is a shop in Brisbane that sells them but I recall they were much more expensive then the longer barrel versions. You would wonder why as there is less metal, barrel in the Hw97K. Mine is the stainless version, it came with the black plastic stock but the shop where I bought it allowed me to swap the stock for a wooden one. Greatly improved visuals imo.

I’m looking foward to seeing what you purchase, in these times of home isolation seeing what people buy and their reports help pass the time away.

Gary

Gary that is interesting that k version is cheaper every where I look it is the same price for both version. Will report if I will purchase one but maybe I will have to wait because yesterday we were informed that maybe we will have to stay home from work because of virus there is not much work and we can't get material because of close borders.

I agree i like to look here what others are doing and showing new toys. I always like to try new air rifles. Pcp or springers it doesn't mater.
