Hw95 at 50 yds

The gun is accurate-it has more to do with the shooter IMO when it comes to springers. NC Ed has posted some tiny groups with his R9 off sticks, maybe 1/2"-3/4" if I remember right. Here's a humble attempt offhand at 55 yards, shot before PCPs spoiled me.

I don't know if this will help, but these are the results from my typical day shooting springers at 50 yards sitting. I started with the TX and shot a couple groups averaging right around an inch in a 5 mph breeze. Then I switched to the R9/HW95, had vertical spread on the first group, adjusted my position and groups started tightening up. The final group with the R9 was 0.43", but there is no way I could pull that off every time. For both guns I put the average group size around 1" at 50 yards with me shooting, but I find the TX takes less effort overall. I have to warm up a bit with the R9 before I start getting good groups, where the TX will give me good groups right from the start. My goal is to get all 25 shots inside the 1.2" bull at 50 yards. So far the best I have done is 19/25 with the TX, again sitting.

My R9 has a 12 ft-lb Vortek kit installed and is giving me 12.2 ft-lb at the muzzle.

Agree with Gander 100% the TX is such a easy to shoot springer. I really enjoy my HW95 and my HW97KT but the make the shooter much more involved with group size.

We own (we as in Hubby and I) a TX200 .22, TX200 MKII .22 and a sub 12 TX200 .177.

All three of the TXs have no problem being shot off bags. The two .22s will consistently print 5 shot 50y groups that run right around 2 minutes\1 inch. And anyone can take those guns and do that. If we really are super consistent with hold pressure and trying to shoot the tightest group possible .75ish is possible if we are working to shoot small groups (that's what our PCPs are for tho lol) and that would be about the limit of our talent with springers.

The HW95 .22 will group right wjth the TXs BUT we have "work" harder to get those groups and shooting off the bags doesn't cut it so it's being shot off the palm rested on the bench rest and that is not something that is comfortable for either of us.

The HW97KT is a total tack driver and believe it or not loves being shot off the bag but grip and shoulder pressure consistantcy is uber important as well as placement on the bag. Once you have all that down pat our HW97KT .22 will make you smile past both your ears with JSB 15.89s and 14.3 crosman domes (the brown box ones that you can't get anymore, never used the ones in the tin.. Thank god we have plenty of boxes stacked up lol as a lot of guns shoot them superbly)

Imho if you want 50y Springer accuracy and want a gun that is easy to shoot and is superb out the box nothing beats the TX it's just such a amazing gun and performs stunningly good as have everyone ive ever shot. The price is high but the quality is top tier and the guns are works of art.. And the blueing is unrivaled, they are just sooooooo pretty and the triggers are amazingly (the HW triggers are amazing as im sure you know BUT the TX triggers are notably better!)

The HWs don't fight you to much with pellets and shoot a lot of pellets excellent but i will say that TXs we own and others we have shot are JSB 15.89s or 18.13s only (our MKII likes the Crosman Domes as i said) the HWs we have as well as others we have shot all perform with a great many pellets.

Our 97 shoots JSB 14.3s thru 18.13s all excellent (doesn't like the 13.43s) shoots CPHPs and Domes excellent, Polymag shorts excellent (not the normal Polymags it hates them), H&N Hornets, cuda hunters and Hunter Extremes, FTTs in 5.51mm head size and the 14g snipers super excellent (the sniper 14g are it's number one pellet out past 40y inside of 40y it shoots JSB 18.13s the tightest at 25y but not by much and at 50y the Snipers are the tightest shooting)

And i know you asked, the TX200s both are between 16.5 and 17.5ftlbs depending on pellet (15.89s both are 16.5 and 16.8ftlbs)

The HW97KT is doing 17.4ftlb with 14g Snipers and 18.2ftlbs with JSB18.13s and the 95 is doing 15.3ftlbs with the 15.89s.
