HW95 .22 FPS/FPE

What ball park range should I expect as an average FPS/FPE for a non-tuned HW95 .22 after several hundred shots and will a VORTEK PG3 kit show a marked improvement? I do NOT have a chronograph but the rifle shoots excellent groups at 25 yards. Thanks and I am trying to get access to a chronograph.

I forgot to add that it is shooting H&N FTT 14.66 gr pellets.

Around 710-720fps with that weight pellet with the Vortek. I wouldn't change it if it's shooting perfect as-is though.

I sold my R9 (HW95) blue laminate AFTER the Vortek kit was installed because it wasn't as easy (for me) to shoot it as accurate as when it was still factory twangy. Your results may vary but the quicker pulse recoil didn't do too well for "me" in my R9 and I kept my untuned just lubed Chinese BAM B26 R9/HW95 clone that I had a much easier time shooting accurately. For some reason my Vortex in both HW97k and HW30s(x2) seemed to have the same ease of shooting accurately though.

Don't try to power a light bulb with a potato.

650-675 Stock with 14.66

720-750 with Vortek kit and their Piston seal (This piston seal with add FPS)

690-720 with Maccari kit with stock piston seal (Maccari piston seal may not add FPS)

Maccari kit is smother and easier to cock. Vortek kit has more power, but it still smooth. Pick what you want.

I often do a combo of Maccari kit and Vortek piston seal.

I have a HW85 (4 inch longer barrel than the HW95) with a Maccari kit in 22cal shooting 720fps with 14.66. Smooth and easy to shoot accurately.

Not having a chronograph may be your best friend in the springer world.

Why didn't you swap the internals out instead of selling the gun?

Because the Chinese B26 clone was naturally more accurate than the real Weirauch Blue Laminate R9 even before the Vortek.

This is a timely question for me too: Yesterday I received my new HW95 Luxus in .22 from AOA. I understand now what people mean when they talk about Weihrauch quality! I took maybe 15 shots at 20 yards with open sights using JSB Hades and FX Heavy 18.1 grain 5.52. Between those two the gun likes the heavier pellet. More pellets on the way to continue testing after I mount the Airmax scope. I’d love to test more today but at 5 degrees for the high today I think I’ll wait!

seehome, I'm glad to hear you like your new HW95. Since you plan on testing more pellets give the JSB 15.89gr pellets a try. My HW95 .22 does very well with these. Also lots of people here have recommended the H&N Field Target 14.66gr pellets for this rifle and I've gotten excellent results with these too. Lastly give the inexpensive 14.3gr Crosman Premiers in domed or hollow points a try. They shoot very well in my rifles and don't cost much.
