HW77K vs HW77

I'm sure other's will chime in here, but the longer barrel does help out beyond the farther distances, I recently purchased an HW97KL, which was made for silhouette matches. Both of my HW77s are of the longer barrels. The HW97KL is similar in length to the HW77. They only made the HW97KL in .177. I had read here that the longer barrel can slow the pellet down, I had mentioned this to the guy from KRALE and he scoffed at the remark, and said the pellet would travel faster thus improving accuracy. I"m sure this just over 2 inches in length maybe a draw in the hands of the same shooter shooting the K and the longer version of any rifle. Most always the rifle's are more accurate than we are. You will find the most influential thing on accuracy is a good tune job, and a quality scope and lot's of practice.

Personal opinion the K barrel will shoot with the longer barrel. Many do believe that the longer barrel is better. I have chopped barrels for years and I find with my shooting no difference in accuracy and little to no fps loss. Going back to other brands of spring guns in the top line of guns many have shorter barrel than the HW K barrels.

Longer barrels the pellet stays in the barrel longer and that little time means a good follow thru is needed. Makes it more critical on movement of the shooter. The spring uses just part of the barrel to reach the max speed of the pellet and then does not pick up or lose speed. The spring gun just produces a certain amount of energy from the spring. Not like the PCP guns that love the longer barrel and is a known fact that the longer barrel in a pcp will gain FPS with a longer barrel install only. But the PCP has much stored energy vs a spring making the energy. Basing this off the AirForce guns. 12" to 18" and for sure the 18" to 24" there will be an increase in FPS. JMO💀

Springers are not like PCPs. I've read in many different places that you don't need more than 9" of barrel. Anything after that just slows the pellet down due to friction. PCPs are using compressed air at a much higher pressure than a springer has plus with a springer, when you pull the trigger and the air trapped behind the piston will heat up to I believe i read 650F which helps increase the pressure pushing the pellet but it cools rapidly as soon as the pellet starts to move due to the air expanding. It's a very complicated piece of physics at work.

I don’t own the K but I’m sure both versions are just as accurate. I prefer the elegance of the longer barrel, just me. I’m sure if you buy one you won’t be disappointed.
