For those considering purchase of an HW44-it seems the moderator IS NOT readily removable on these pistols if purchased from US vendors. This may not be an issue for those that need the sound suppression or who don't mind the extra length but it is something that I personally do not need or want. Apparently all HW44's had removable moderators initially but something changed (US laws?) and now the moderators DO NOT FEATURE REMOVABLE GRUB SCREWS. I've been told by various vendors that they are a "self shearing head" or "a pin" but in any event they are not "easily" removable. Beyond the fact that I did not need the sound suppression and did not want the extra length, I was concerned about bumping the end of the moderator and possibly shifting/loosening it and then not being able to remove/reset it.
European sources MAY have the pistol without the fixed moderator (I was told this is so by Krale) but haven't been able to order from them myself to verify.
