HW30s in .22?

Howdy,

I'm thinking about getting an HW30s in .22 for plinking and rodent & squirrel shooting at < 20 yds. I've owned the HW50s in .177 and we didn't get along well. I'm not the best shot or the worst, but I was all over the place with the 50s. I have an RWS 24 in .177 that's great, but I'd like a low-powered springer in .22. I will not be shooting from a rest.

Is the HW30s recoil noticibly less than the HW50s?

Is it smoother shooting overall than the HW50s?

Any other input appreciated. Thanks!

The HW50S's are a little jumpy from the factory. The HW30S, on the other hand is a mild as you can get and way way smoother out of the box. . Big difference. It's a small gun though, with short LOP. I bought one for my son in .22cal 10 years ago when he was 12. He shot the daylights out of the gun in the backyard all the time. Very accurate gun. I took it one year to a Bible camp for teenagers and all the girls took turns shooting it during competition and loved it. They are really nice guns. Thinking about it makes me wish I still had one.

Hello I have not shot a HW50 but I own a HW30 in 22 I have had it for 2 1/2 to 3 yrs bought it new from AOA. Have 2000+ pellets thru it and am very happy with it. I use it with my daughter and her R7 in 177 for plinking when we don't want to worry about an air supply, and to remove pests around the bird feeders. I have shot several squirrels out to 20 yds no issue with head shots and Poly mag shorts. The shot cycle is smooth no twang (I did remove the actin from the stock and put tune in a tube on the mainspring). It has a very mild recoil but not hold sensitive at all. Cocking is easy and can be done with 2 fingers. This gun is set up with a rear Williams peep sight and a HW fiber optic front (the fiber optic is a must for the irons, it so easy to pick up). Well this is just my experience with the gun if you have any questions just ask Eric.
