Christian the defective scope is on its way in the mail so it’s too late to put it back on the Lgv. I have a spare cheap rimfire scope on the 30 atm atop of a ZR mount and all’s good. I just read your post and went outside a fired off 10 shots at 30 metres. One thing I have noticed that this rifle does have a peculiar habit (in winter so far) of shooting a little bit high for the first 3 or 4 shots until it warms up, even after I had stripped it down and sparingly used molly putting it back together. I had a cheap chinese springer once that did the same thing.

I was hoping that the Vortek kit might eliminate this peculiarity but if not I’m not really worried about it that much. In the photo the shot off to the right was my first shot blues, sometimes it happens and sometimes it don’t.

And yes Walter I’m ordering some JSB’s I keep procrastinating about it but I will do it🤞

Gary, please remind me what pellets you have been shooting during all these woes? If I have them, I will shoot them tomorrow and see how they do in my gun. For the record, I do shoot only JSBs right now out of the HW30 to include an occasional Polymag. I also don't stretch it that much on the daily. Pretty much shooting inside of 20 yards most of the time.

Happens to be, I recently purchased a tin of those and as promised, here ya go! Please note, not my best shooting, I was shaking up a bit, couldn’t be as steady as would have liked.

x5 Shots Hunter Extremes:

You can see the POA by the labeling. Frankly, I think they did better than what I remember last, but still, look at the wild flyer. That wasn’t caused by my shooting or shaking, otherwise all shots would have been all over the place.

x6 shots JSB 8.44

Still shaking a bit here, look how consistent. Bonus shot to boot.

Frankly, I would get me some different pellets even before changing out the spring.

My 177 hw30s has changed it´s prefered pellets from the first shots until now, i was having a big struggle finding the right on, at one point i was on my way sending it back cause it was so inacurate, first it liked the H/N FTT, then they where all over the place, changed to JSB 8.44 and they worked ok for some 100 shots then the same, back to H/N and they worked ok, but now i shoot the JSB 7.33 and they are more accurate than the others ever where, so i think it´s the gun that has been settling down and now is as it should be

Update on my scope issues. The gentleman from Hawke rang me last night and after through testing with their specialised equipment could not find a fault with the scope. However I had sent with the scope targets I had with notes that showed when and where groups moved and wouldn’t group.

On goodwill he is going to replace the scope because even though it didn’t fail on his equipment there was enough evidence that something may be wrong with it. The old scope he will send to England for testing at Hawke at his cost. He will contact me with the results. I told him that should Hawke find nothing wrong with the scope I would pay his shipment costs ect.

So this arvo I transferred the 2*7*30 from my Walther to the 30. I had to shim the front of the scope and the front side ring as it was shooting very high and to the right. The scope was mechanically centered before fitting. I know these are only 3 shot groups but there are 5 of them. Distance was 25 metres useing the Hunter Extremes. The one top right was my second last group. Two outside the ring so I don’t know what happened there.

At this point I’m on my 6th tin of pellets. I hope these JSB’s group better than the Extremes.

I don't mean to insult your intelligence, but are you being careful about how you insert your pellets in the chamber?

When I tried using big pellets like RWS Meisterkugeln 9.3 gr Supermag Wadcutters, they fit in the chamber so tight that if I didn't get them started perfectly straight in, the heads would get shaved enough that I would have a flier in the opposite direction of the angle it entered in the chamber.

I had the same problem with Crosman 7.9 gr hollow points.

Maybe you have an easier time with your break barrel than I have with my underlever, but I thought I'd mention it just in case you hadn't considered that.

No shaving happening here Peter, the Extremes are a lightly less than a snug fit.

Thanks Christian and Wayne but I was looking to get tighter groups than these. I can achieve better groups at that distance with my 77 and LGV. Maybe I was having an off arvo, this happens a lot 😂 it was blowing at about 20 knots when I was shooting but I was protected somewhat.

We are off camping and fishing on Fraser Island from Wednesday for 3 weeks so if the JSB ‘s and the replacement scope don’t arrive before then it’s going to be a long wait.
