No, I wouldn't say the OEM sight is low quality at all. But it is placed at the breach as opposed to an aperture sight which is placed at the the rear or the compression tube. This makes the sight radius longer, increasing accuracy.

Also, the OEM rear sight is a "notch" type sight. An aperture sight offers several real advantages (such as parallax supression but now I'm above my pay grade!) that make for much superior non-magnified sighting.
