HW's LOP?? pic for HELP PLEASE

Could some of you gentlemen be so kind as to measure your factory stocked HW spring guns and please tell me the LOP?

I'm itching to get an HW but am worried about them not fitting me since I'm not 6 ft tall :)

Interested in the 30, 50, ,77, 95 and 97's

I have included a really rough picture of how I measured for LOP. As you can see its right at 13 inches. Which is considered shorter than most. You think some of you fellows could measure the same as the picture above and then tell me which HW fit you best? I'm afraid some of the stocks that are straight back and not thumb hole are gonna be a little long for my reach to the trigger.
I sure would appreciate it alot. You don't have to take pictures, just give me what your measurement is from the bend of your arm to the first digit of your trigger finger. And then tell me which HW you own and the type of stock, and how well it fits your LOP and also how the grip area feels as far as reaching the trigger.

Thanks
Ray

As measured from the rear center of the recoil pad to the front of the trigger, my R7 (HW30) is exactly 14". My R1 (HW80) is 14 1/8".

This really surprised me as the R7 feels like a "youth model" compared to the R1, which I would certainly call a full size rifle. Maybe it's because the R1 is a bit heavier than the R7. They both have comparable 4-12X scopes, the R7 weighs 7# 2oz., and the R1 weighs 10# 6oz. The R1's stock is also quite thicker.

They're 2 of my favorites.

The HW50 is 14.5 inches. The HW30 is 1 inch shorter. I am only 5' 9", but both feel great for me.

I once had a cheap Chinese springer with a LOP too short for me. I used a slip on recoil pad and it felt great. If looks aren't ULTRA important to you, it can make a world of difference.

Similar height but I've rarely (if ever) shot anything that felt too short for me. I usually shoot better with shorter LOP. Individual differences.

A somewhat unusual feature of most HW rifles since time immemorial, is that the trigger blade sits rather far from the grip - compare with photos of other makes, and you’ll see what I mean. Some folks without long-ish fingers can find this a little uncomfortable.

The good news is, the grip position is more like guns with an LOP a half-inch or so shorter. An aftermarket set-back trigger blade can take nice advantage of this, and you likely can make the gun comfortable without needing to alter the stock.

Also remember that the HW Rekord trigger is a two-stage affair. Even though it may seem a long reach to start, the actual second-stage release point is significantly farther back. You may like that once you get used to it.

My HW30-UP with a Rowan Flat set-back trigger(the standard one and not the extra set-back) measures 13 11/16, by contrast my HW98 with stock trigger comes it at 14 1/16. The reach to the trigger in the 98 is shorter that the 30, I think the wrist in the 98 is a bit more like a pistol grip whereas the 30 is a little more of a straight wrist. For me the 30 had just a bit to much of a reach to the trigger which is why I went with the setback, I would say I am about average sized at 5'10".

That's what I'm afraid of if I purchase the non-thumbhole version. That it will be too far from the grip to the trigger for me. I seem to shoot a lot better with a slightly shorter LOP.

Hopefully you can do the fun part soon - find an HW and give the handling a try.

My point in mentioning the trigger blade position earlier, is that the traditional LOP metric (center front of trigger blade at rest, to center of buttplate) is perhaps a bit misleading. The overall stock proportions are quite typical and will likely suit you fine. Also don’t forget it’s a 2-stage trigger; LOP is shorter from the release point.

Weihrauch has been making air rifles for 70+ years and knows a thing or two about their working for a wide range of users.

Good luck!

Well I received my HW50 over this past weekend and with the limeted time I have had with it I would say the reach to the trigger falls in between my hw30 and hw98. I used to think the 98 was about perfect but after working with the 50 I am now starting to think i may be a tad short as the 50 feels about right for me although I wouldn't mind a flatter blade like the Rowen flat setback as my trigger finger has a bit of unusual bit of a lateral bend and twist at the last joint so a blade with a deeper crescent shape feels uncomfortable to use for me.

By comparison using your measurement example my measurement comes in at 15 1/2 inches.

I guess like Mr Driskol stated if you can try to handle one before you buy then I would go that route, if not then be prepared to purchase an aftermarket setback trigger blade or perhaps in your case and extra setback trigger and perhaps even an aftermarket stock or alter the hww stock to fit your dimensions if needed.

Thus far I am really enjoying the 50 and really seems to fit me well overall and will be my hunting rig.
