Hunting Deer in TX with a .22?

I’m sick of seeing people talk about hunting pigs, Deer etc with too little gun. Yes it can be done but everything has to be damn near perfect to make a clean one shot kill.

if you’ve hunted pigs and deer to a lesser extent, they don’t often hold their heads perfectly still.

Regardless of legality … .22 spring guns on deer is cruel, reckless and stupid.I say this is a veteran spring and pcp hunter and competitive shooter.

If they are hunting with a .22 brake barrel they are hunting illegally.

https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/hunting/air-gun-arrow-gun-regulations

" Pre-charged pneumatic air guns must fire a projectile of at least 30 caliber in diameter and at least 150 grains in weight with a minimum muzzle velocity of 800 feet per second or any combination of bullet weight and muzzle velocity that produces muzzle energy of at least 215 foot pounds of energy. "

No debate here as it is illegal in Texas to do so with a Gamo 22cal springer. Normally the "Manner and Means" section of any states hunting laws will tell you what you can and cannot hunt with.

Speed limits tell you what the law is as well. you ever seen anyone speeding?

Amendment to the TPWD regs to allow PPC guns to take big game animals was a long drawn out process, I have waited for this new ruling for years, then you have "people" just trying to screw it up and give us PPCers a bad reputation. With the success of states that currently allow PPC I can see more joining in - let's not give them any negative reasons to deny allowance.

JUST FOLLOW THE LAW PLEASE.

Agree on springers, the repeatable precision on that 1st cold shot is just not there to risk it,...on the other hand a powerful .22 PCP with the right ammo is a wonderful weapon for that precise brain shot on both deer and hogs.
