HUMA REGULATORS VS. FX REGULATORS FOR WILDCAT & STREAMLINE

Hi again,

Here's a question that stems from my original post... I had mentioned before that with my Streamline that I don't let the pressure drop much below 180bar because accuracy starts dropping off. Thinking about the stuff I have read here in this thread, I remembered something that happened to make me keep the pressure abouve 180bar.

Not long after unboxing and sighting in the scope and being all excited that this rifle is so accurate... I let the pressure go below approximately 150bar. What happened was the rifle started, I call it - "spitting". After a shot, the rifle some what rapidly "spitting" air. It lasted a few seconds and repeated with the next shot. Noticing the pressure was just below 150bar on the gauge! I figured I'd fill it up... Even the gauge on my Hill handpump had shown about same pressure.

To this day, When the pressure gets to around 180bar, maybe just below, I pump it back up and this "spitting" has never repeated.

So, I guess I would like to hear thoughts as to what this "spitting" is/was. My thinking is and my understanding with the FX regulators, and the "issues" I had right "outta the box", that maybe my Streamline has a "weird" regulator and that FX's quality control may not be so good?

Don't get me wrong, I love my Streamline and FX air rifles, but...

Thank you, Chuck for your input and suggestions, which of course I will do. But, am I nuts too thinks issues like these shouldn't be happening on an air rifle that I have owned for just about 8 months now? Let alone the issues I had "outta the box" and in the first couple of weeks?

None the less, I don't expect a "maintenance free" rifle either. And seeing that I am new to PCP's and certainly no expert, but one would think you spend this kind of money you would have some kind of longevity before "having to" rebuild or... Good thing I like to "tinker" with firearms and now airguns. And if I didn't like to "tinker", and with the "out of the box" issues, and with what the dealer told me on warranty work, God knows how long I would have waited to play with my expensive (for me anyway) new toy. Since I have fixed the issues myself and learning to keep the pressure up, this rifle has been nonething but "Fun to shoot"!

With that said, It has been serversl days now since I have shot and filled my Streamline, it's still holding at just over 230bar according to the gauge (just checked). Living out in the country, I keep my Streamline at the "ready" for squirrels, rabbits and feral cats.

Anyway, when I change out the regulator, I'll inspect all the original seals etc... Clean and reassemble with some silicone grease and see if I can "get more shots per fill" and not have it "spit at me". LOL

Thanks again,
Cary

LMAO!!! Well, maybe that's the probelm... I have bad luck when it come to women. LOL

But if I don't feel like "playing", unlike a woman, I can put it in the corner and forget about it for a while.... I'm so bad.

Anyway, besides the fact I get along better with guns and dogs... I do love this hobby and I love learning new things. And as cold as it's been here in Michigan, I have something to occupy my brain besides working on this ol' farm house.

Thanks again for your insights. And I'll be asking more questions, I sure.

Cary

Oh so you know "Tip Up Town"! And if you lived in Traverse City... You do know Michingan winters.

I'm about a half an hour east of Lansing, and it's been a tad warmer here than TC... Hard to imagine that "minus two" as warmer. LOL But today we having a heat wave at 24 degrees and this next Thrusday, the weatherman is saying a high of 50. Time to get the shorts out. LOL!

Smoked Whitefish! The U.P.!... God's Country and his favorite snack!!!... Well, at least mine. LOL

I know of Sugar Island, never been there though. And usually, when I go camping, I don't stop until I have long past north of "da bridge".

Grandpa's teach us a lot....

Once upon a time, I moved away from Michigan. Missed it. Moved back. And the rest of my days will be here....

Hi Chuck,
First off let me say that I enjoy reading your posts. Very informative. I really have learned a lot in a short time by reading post such as yours and others who have truely mastered their craft. I have a quick question. Have you had a chance to check accuracy of the Huma and Willa gauges now that you have the reg tester? I’m going crazy with the horribly inaccurate FX gauges on my Impact. The two gauges I mention are what I’m looking at as possible replacements. Not really interested in the expensive digital gauges from Edgun
Thank you.
cheers

Some Pressure Gauge test on Wika, FX, and Acutek (Chinese Brand) using GASARC Regulator.

WIKA are consistent. Acutek off some BAR. FX off more than 10BAR at 200BAR.
