HUMA REGULATORS VS. FX REGULATORS FOR WILDCAT & STREAMLINE

Hey Chuck. How is Palm Beach Air Guns to deal with? I used AoA and can't complain especially since I was dealing during peak season. Since I am in South Carolina. It would be nice to do business in this area. I think things get bounced around the further the travel and additional handling required. OH, shame on me, may all you air heads have a super New Year. Don't work to hard and make lots of money.

Hey all, I hope your holidays went well. I received my Wika manometer (air gauge) and finally made time to swap it with the FX gauge that came on my Wildcat. There is not much room for a wrench to take the FX meter off. If anyone (Chuck?) knows the best way to remove it, I'm open for suggestions. My idea is to grind the sides down on an open end wrench to make it fit on the hex in the limited space.

Chuck,

Do you recall the o-ring size? Tuesday, 01/08, my Huma Regulator arrives. Starting to get a little nervous about tearing my rifle apart. Someone asked "

do the exhaust ports have to line up on the regulator and tube liner?" I have that same question. Or, is it only necessary to have the regulator o-rings between the exhaust port? Anyway, thank you for sharing your knowledge. Clearly, it's nice to have guidance.

Chuck,

I have installed the Wika Gauge. I did not remove the derlin washer. In fact, I securely snugged it in place and it lined up perfectly. However, I did have to do some sanding of the gauge as it was it was to tight and I could not turn the cover for alignment with the fill port. Did not require much sanding and works very smoothly. I have removed the air cylinder and the FX Air Regulator. I am concerned as this regulator is completely different from the regulators shown or that I have observed in various tutorials. This FX Regulator is 48.24 mm in length and the adjustment screw and washers are not visible. I had to use a 5 mm hex wrench to twist it out. Further, it appears to be externally adjustable by means of a hex wrench. without regulator from the air cylinder. The vent ports are 68.46 mm from the end of the cylinder. My Huma Regulator should arrive today. I am keeping my fingers crossed as to whether or not it will fit. I am thinking this is the new AMP Regulator. I ordered my .25 compact on 11/21/18 and did not receive it until 12/14/18. Since FX included the AMP Regulator on the .30 Compact, I wonder if they have upgraded the .25 Compact as well. You recently tuned a .25 Compact for your friend from Palm Beach Air Guns. I assume it had the old regulator. Any way, I hope the Huma slides in and with no hassles. And, now that I have somewhat read AMP Regulator, if that is what I have, I can make adjustments without adjusting HS. Clearly, some what of a dilemma. Your's and other members input would very much be appreciated.

Hi Nick,

It appears as though you received the newest version of the Wildcat MKII Compact that has the AMP externally adjustable regulator! Your in Luck!

"The AMP Reg (short for “Adjustable Match Precision" Regulator) is a newly designed high performance regulator. The AMP's advanced design allows for precision tuning that can be dialed in to a more exact pressure measurement without the spring fatigue or pressure creep that plague lesser regulators. Plus, the AMP allows you to increase and decrease regulator pressure while the Wildcat is fully pressurized. Gone are the days of needing to de-pressurize your rifle before lowering the regulator pressure. This allows the AMP Reg to be externally adjusted within the fixed 300cc aluminum air reservoir using a simple Allen key."

Let me try this again. Wife worried I am spending more money and I can't concentrate with all the logic going in one ear and out the other.

Chuck,

I have installed the Wika Gauge. I did not remove the derlin washer. In fact, I securely snugged it in place and it lined up perfectly. However, It did require some sanding as it was s too tight and I could not turn the dust cover for alignment with the fill port. It now works very smoothly. I have removed the air cylinder and the FX Air Regulator. I am concerned as this regulator is completely different from the regulators shown or that I have observed in various tutorials. This FX Regulator is 48.24 mm in length and the adjustment screw and washers are not visible. I had to use a 5 mm Allen key to twist it out. Further, it appears to be externally adjustable by means of a Allen key. The vent ports are 68.46 mm from the end of the cylinder. I am thinking this is an AMP Regulator as described by "Straight Shooters" as follows: "The AMP's advanced design allows for precision tuning that can be dialed in to a more exact pressure measurement without the spring fatigue or pressure creep that plague lesser regulators. Plus, the AMP allows you to increase and decrease regulator pressure while the Wildcat is fully pressurized. Gone are the days of needing to de-pressurize your rifle before lowering the regulator pressure. This allows the AMP Reg to be externally adjusted within the fixed 300cc aluminum air reservoir using a simple Allen key".

I am keeping my fingers crossed as to whether or not the HUMA will fit. I ordered my .25 compact on 11/21/18 and did not receive it until 12/14/18. Since FX included the AMP Regulator on the .30 Compact, I wonder if they have upgraded the .25 Compact as well. Chuck, you recently tuned a War Cat .25 Compact for your friend from Palm Beach Air Guns. I assume it had the old regulator. Any way, I hope the Huma slides in with no hassles. On the other hand, if this is an AMP Regulator, I can make adjustments without adjusting HS. This regulator certainly looks more robust than the old FX Regulators. Clearly, this presents some what of a dilemma. Your's and other members input would very much be appreciated.
