Huma Regulator Questions

I have been thinking of getting an inline huma regulator for tethering my Daystate Saxon as I find it works best around 190/200 Bar.

My Current tank setup is 9 liter carbon fiber paired to best fitting 'MDE ‘Jubilee’ Gun Charging Valves 300BAR Kit'.

my question is that i can just add the huma inline regulator in between without ordering anything else?

secondly i shall still be able to fill my tank to 315 bar regardless of the setting on the huma regulator and the filling process remains the same?

I also want to order a Huma regulator for Edgun R5M. the ordering page asks what setting do i need? how do i answer that? i plan to tune it to specific pellets. by the way we have no power restrictions in my country (FAC).

I also need a Huma regulator for FX Impact X, serial number 1837xx but going through different posts am i right in presuming that they dont make them for these yet ?

Do you mean the inline Huma?

I had toyed with the idea of this because of the size advantage, however the volume of the reg still must remain very small, better perhaps to use the large best fittings regulator?

https://www.bestfittings.co.uk/shop/airgun-charging-equipment/cylinder-accessories/7000-pressure-regulator-kit-for-nitrogen-high-pressure-air/

Although bulky this must have a larger volume of air/area to act upon?

Presumably the Saxon has no internal reg, when I run a gun with a reg from the Best fitting set-up I set the output to be just above the re set pressure on the gun.

Of course the other benefit of the Huma is that you can use it as a fillset as you say, although how I don't quite know.

I assume that your Best Fittings valve has a din 300 interface. You will need to remove the hose and plug attachment and replace it with the regulator body. Get the model that has its' own hose. You will need to change assemblies when filling the cylinder. Have a look at the Altaros version, it comes with a hose and costs less than the Huma. The choice is yours.

I've never used one of these. The way I see this one, or the others like it, is 'simply' to maintain a constant fill pressure in the guns tank. Therefore the guns tank pressure and valving (and reg if so equiped) would work as normal, just at the desired fill pressure. Not sure the reg volume in the inline unit is even applicable as long as it works correctly.

yes, this is the one i was thinking about.

its much cheaper than the bestfitting option too.

yes, the saxon has no internal regulator but it shoots so superbly in the right pressure range, hence the decision to get into an inline regulator. maybe the same magic can be created on my regulated guns as well.

using it alongside my fillset is the question. if i can do that, i shall give it a shot !

shall update

could you explain a bit more how i would be able to use it with the huma. i have never seen or tried this before

that what i am hoping. just wondering i will be able to fill the scuba tank normally and to its full capacity ?

'SCUBA' if thats the right label then you will be at 3000 psi to start if you are lucky enough to get a FULL fill. If this is right then you don't need a regulator to tether you gun at 200 bar 200bar is 2900 PSI so the ideal your looking for is already there if you have a good valve on your tank and just plug in the fill probe.

If an SCBA tank and up to 4500 psi, then yup, you need a regulator unless you only fill the bulk tank to 3000. All the fittings are available to attach the pieces.

edit - I should add that I have a couple scba tanks that get filled to 4500 psi to start with. When they get down to 2200 or so I use it for a month as a tethered tank

The Huma and Altaros external regulators have Din 300 threads. You simply remove your best fittings fill whip and replace it with the regulator body then reinstall your fill adaptor. If you use the Altaros unit, you won't need the adaptor and hose as that product has the hose integrated. It can't be any simpler than that. to fill your bottle, you will need to remove the reg. and reinstall your best fittings whip. Check the relative websites, you'll get an idea of the products that you seek. If you are using a regulated gun, save your money, you won't need a regulated fill adaptor.

i stand corrected, did not know the difference between scuba and scba. mine is a carbon fiber tank which i fill to 315 BAR (4500 psi)

when you say all the fittings are available to attach, does it mean they come with the package or i need / can order them. if latter what do i need ?

thanks

this does look interesting AND is cheaper too. Any negatives ?

I've been using one for two years. No negatives but it can be a bit touchy setting the exact required pressure. Once set, it won't need to be fiddled with again unless you want a different pressure for another gun. If you are using a probe, it should screw directly to the hose end. (1/8 BSP ) otherwise, you may need a 1/8 BSP male foster type QD fitting but if you need that, you can use the one from the end of your existing fill rig.

an update on this topic and a related question.

i went for the huma externally adjustable one, it was an easy task to set it to the desired pressure and it worked flawlessly.

i had a few sessions with it starting with a .25 cal, 41fpe, daystate regal, which has an appetite for air, hardly got 15 shots before it went off reg, it was great to enjoy a whole days session without once getting up to top up... plus... the huma kept the rifle right in its sweet spot !

now a problem.

the reg started to creep up right upto the limit. i opened the reg and found one seal which had a tear. i had also ordered a rebild kit, but i think they sent me thee wrong packet as there wasnt a single size oring in there which matched with any on mine :(

does anyone have the size of the orings used in these?
