Huma Regulator Install in FX Crown

My doorbell rang and USPS had a package that needed signature, I forgot about ordering Huma regulator for my Crown .25 a few weeks ago. A little over a week before hand I installed new style FX regulator screw with a new piston to try to figure out creep issue but creep would just not go away. I don’t think a $2K pellet gun should have creep, my other regulated PCP’s don’t creep. So one final time I took Crown apart, removed FX regulator and installed the Huma. Before installing you must scan QR symbol on included card from Huma and download installation instructions. The Huma regulator is shipped in pieces and must be assembled for your specific model of Crown or Impact. You need to determine what version FX regulator is installed in your Crown from the factory before you order. My Crown had 16mm long piston and uses 8mm belville washers. I ordered a high pressure Huma regulator adjustable from 80-150 Bar to match the factory regulator. The belville washers that come with the Huma must be stacked in the correct order as illustrated on instructions, my Huma came with two different thickness belville washers “A” Yellow and “B” Green on illustration. A are .015” thick and B are .010” thick so you must pay attention when stacking. I took a few photos while I was doing install so I could post with this tutorial. I will follow up with test results later, I did set regulator to 140 bar for starters and shot over chronograph on Max power using 25.4 gr JSB’s and velocity was 955 FPS and very consistent, some shots showed duplicate velocity on my new Caldwell chronograph so that had me pretty excited. I then turned dial down to 4 and velocity dropped to 915 FPS with same consistency. For comparison my FX regulator had a lot more deviation, I also noticed recovery time between shots was faster. Next test is let gun sit overnight or longer and check for creep. FYI, my regulator stack is Figure 4

Did you buy it from huma site? They don't list in USD. I think it's euros..how much is it and how much is shipping? I might get one to get rid on the creep on the impact. I agree that a $2000 gun shouldn't have any creep like we are seeing with the fx guns. Cause I have used huma reg or my marauder gen1 for years and I can tell you, it does not creep at all.

So the issue I have with the Huma regulator is that you can’t degas it by backing out the reg adjustment screw with the bottle off, like you can with the FX reg set up where it then releases the air in one go and you can hear it gushing out. The only way to degas the Huma is either to dry fire and that takes 7-8 shots as it releases the air or to unscrew the reg gauge which would mean removing the stock. The Huma reg does not let the air flow back out once the pressure is reduced with the bottle off, it’s only going through the system one way once it’s in the Huma setup. If you get it nailed in and don’t plan adjusting too much then that isn’t an issue but should be worth noting, as the last dry fires to degas are on a nearly empty reg and I believe it’s advised not to dry fire without pressure on the regulator.

Update ! Crown sat overnight for almost 12 hours now and needle did not budge on regulator gauge. The FX regulator would creep up10 bar overnight. Huma knows how to build regulators.

Everyone saying reg will always creep no matter what. I think they are wrong. I have used 2 huma reg in my marauder rifle and pistol. Both do not creep or leak even after left for weeks. People saying fx reg creeping is normal. I think a $2000 gun, there shouldn't be any creep. Maybe if sat for a month it might creep a bit. But it shouldn't creep overnight or after few hours. Fx need to get their reg right or just put huma reg in all their fx guns..smh. paid $2000 for my impact. Now have to spend another $120 smh. Reg creeps when first got it new. Fired over 1000 pellets through it. Clean reg, lub reg, it still creep. Not by much..but enough to drop my speed from 860 down to 810-820. Always have to dry fired 1-2 shots to get back to normal. Which is annoying.

I’m a big fan of Huma. I installed two of their Impact first stage reg’s for all pre M3 Impacts, and both my MK2’s have done well with them. My MK2 wildcats, the Huma reg’s in those have been flawless. But the AMP reg’s in both my impacts(now considered the “2nd reg”) and on my MK2 crown, have been spot on. No creep and quick to recover.

Before switching to a Huma reg from an AMP reg, I would do everything I could do first before blaming them. Any reg, I don’t care who makes them, are prone to failures, wether from a $300 entry level pcp to top tier guns, and if it doesn’t fail when brand new and installed, it will in time.

Reg’s are under a lot of strain, and it’s what we can do to keep them in tip top condition is what makes them last.
