How well does the airmaks katran compact match up with the FX dreamtac?

Comparably priced guns , one has a big name , one is a relative newcomer. I had a 22 dreamtac compact. nice . Information is a bit tough to find regarding power output on the katrans. my inquiry relates to the katran compact bottle , katran standard bottle and the dreamtac compact bottle versions. this is for 25 cal versions of these guns.

The katrans appear to have shorter barrels than the dreamtacs , dreamtac compact 25 appears to have a barrel length of 19" where as the kartran compact is 11" barrel! the standard is 15.7" . How are the power yields from these katrans?

Do they match up well with the fx dreamtac compact performance in power and shot count?

On compact guns barrel length is the limitation, both has more than ample power to over run the barrel length. both have very similar length barrel in compact form which means they have similar power level or take 30fps at sweet spot. You can make both them go faster but won’t be as accurate and very loud.

All boils down to the features you like, both are very competent.

I had a dream line compact .22 and currently have the katran bottle .22 standard size not compact. My katran shoots a wider brand and weight of pellets accurately. Also was able to produce much more power. The katran has anti double feed... don’t have bad impressions on either. Would buy each again. And the guy from air velocity has a vid of taking his katran apart. Fairly simple.

Have to agree that the anti double feed is a very nice feature. Dreamline as far as I can tell is more adjustable with external reg, hammer spring and transfer port, very versatile and easy to tune. I like interchangeable stock on the Dreamline tactical version, but katran’s stock looks nice too.

Due to the short barrel there isn’t a way either gun is more powerful compared to the other with the same short barrel. The Dreamline if ordered .177 or .22 does come with lighter hammer weight but 7 dollar hammer weight from FX would let you shoot at 150 bars.

Though definitely not my next gun, the Katran Compact is definitely on my soon buy list. I think I will go with cylinder version because I have a 1.1 L buddy bottle so I don't see the point of $150 extra for the bottled version. Since I have the buddy bottle I don't see the extra worth the shot count.

From what I have read, the Katrans have great triggers, solid CZ barrels and as far as I can so far so good on reliability.

In a way I compare the Katran Compact to the AGT Vixen (sort of) with the advantage is it is a backpackable gun, if you want that requirement.

Here are some threads on the Katran Compacts and their recent owners experience. The first link has actual chronograph numbers. Second is from AGN posted the other day.
