How to tell independent reviewers from severely biased ones?

When every thing reviewed is " Incredible " , " Fantastic " , " Super Accurate ", " Best Ever " , " that's usually a tipoff....They can't ALL be 10s

Amen to that, Joe! Got over all that laudatory mess decades ago when messing with powder burners. There are some really nice guns available, but for sure nothing is perfect, and most things are better than another only incrementally, and usually only for certain aspects. I will be sure to inform all of you when I do find that perfect air rifle!

That's easy for me. I don't review a lot of products, but when I do, I'm flat out honest. If something is worth it, I'll say it. If its crap, well, I might not say it's crap, but I'll say there are more "suitable" options or products that might do what you want. At any rate, I do see some bias with some reviewers.

Sadly is hard to tell, I will go for you CAN'T ... you will be surprised on how many youtubers are "sponsored", so basically you have to use your own criteria to filter.
Cyclops videos are for sure great to watch and looks like they are "unsponsored" like them a lot

Just in case anyone gets their PANTIES in a wad, This was a JOKE! Joe and I are very close friends, just ask him. The guys doing the reviews are usually making a living here on YouTube. You can't tell (Florshiem) their shoes don't fit.You won't get any more shoes. I think we all need to take things with a grain of salt and understand there's a lot of marketing and a lot of money involved in this stuff. Our money.

Frankly, I had just seen the red mark on my profile in relation to a joke I made about Mother in Laws in the background, and someone took it all serious like I was seriously intending to shoot so as to hit a person with a gun. Not referring to you at all, and those balls mean diddly squat to me, it's the stupidity level of the person that did it that bothers.

Two of the gripes I have on reviews are. On scopes I would like to see a resolution board at say 200 yards. Show this at five points in the scope and it takes away one variable. And 1 target shooting at 50-100 yards, show me several targets on one board. I do like the reviews, fun to see the new guns and other toys.

I personally think that there are 3 types of reviewers on YouTube these days.
Totally honest opinion whether good, bad or indifferent - Joe is probably the outstanding example.
Those that will not write negative reviews because they do not want to upset the manufacturers. These are OK because they still honestly give their opinion so if they say they believe gun A is good that is their true opinion.
The problem is the third group who have become almost employees of the manufacturer and their opinions at best can be said to be skewed. Unfortunately most started as independent reviewers and gained people's trust from this time. There is one maker from Northern Europe that now spends a considerable budget on promoting their products through this form of marketing.
