How to mount a bipod? Problems?

Ok, so I got my AA S510 and am using a folding table on my porch. I have a small plastic box with a folded t-shirt to rest my leading hand on but I think I'd like a bipod. I know there are many, expensive and inexpensive ones, out there but just how hard is it to mount (or unmount) one? Drilling into forend? I suppose one would have to take the forend off in order to drill. Ideas? Suggestions?

You will need to remove the stock and drill a hole and install a sling swivel stud for the bipod to attach to. I would recommend installing a stud in the butt stock as well so you can attach a sling. If you have a nice walnut stock and you dont have experience doing this type of work you may want to pay a gunsmith to install sling studs for you.

Here's a video for sling stud installation. I had sling studs on my Air Arms S500 and it was quite easy to mount a Harris bipod to the stud.

I've also used this swivel stud adapter to mount an Atlas clone on her as well! I really like the Atlas clones. Haven't been able to force myself to pay the big bucks for the real Atlas yet. I used this adapter on my M-rod as well.

Hope this helps.

you can use some uncle mikes hardware and install a acc rail on the stock and get a picitanny/weaver rail and have both like this

i have a wood screw style on the stock itself for the butt pad side. dont have an image though.
this works great, the sling mounts swivel just fine and dont interfere with the rail posts

magpul rail, uncle mikes hardware and a cap screw and nylock/washers from a hardware store. the sling is home made from 550 paracord

Also, if you are going to be shooting from home mostly, you can forgo the bipod adapter and get a Caldwell Tack Driver bag.
That's my favorite front rest bag. It holds the rifle snug and you can leave it sitting upright in the bag and it won't fall over.

Walmart has them already filled for $42 bucks

Hi AllilnLL,
Here is a topic I started a few weeks ago. You might be able to use some tips from it with your project.
Definitely take your stock off. You sure don't want to run into the air tube by accident! Take your time and double check all your measurements before drilling.
Overall it's really not a hard thing to do. But it is pretty easy to end up off center and that can be frustrating. Good luck!
