How to Modify a Synthetic Stock? Any Suggestions?

It looks like I’ll be getting an entry-level PCP in addition to THE ONE gun I really want.
So, both Benjamin Maximus and Fortitude have a synthetic stock – I like it!

But the stock is BORING traditional.
I’d rather have a huge thumb hole, or a skeleton stock like the Hatsan Flash or Edge.

Q 1:  Does anybody have experience modding a synthetic stock – in this case, giving it a more progressive look?
Are there any particular problems for the gun’s accuracy with making big holes into the butt stock?

Particularly, the Maximus and Fortitude have this (to me!) ugly knurl at the fore-end – I call it the Benjamin Lump. Cf. the pic below....

Q 2: WHY does the fore-end have this tumor-like lump?

Q 3:  HOW can I heal this eyesore?

Please, friends: No offense to you Fortitude and Maximus owners, OK?
This is purely a question of personal taste. And maybe my taste is weird....

So here it is, the BENJAMIN LUMP, a click away from own file sharing cloud:

Polyethylene plastic is difficult to glue, absolutely the most difficult. This is used in on Kayaks and 5 gallon pails. With that said it's still glueable with epoxy (G-flex) There are videos describing this on YouTube gluing a kayak that was cut in half and thrown off an overpass. So now I would take a fine tooth saw blade like a 18 tooth per inch hacksaw blade. Cut on one of the molded diagonal lines the open void in the front can be filled with a mixture of G-flex and filling compound, or you could use some foam window insulation and cover it with an epoxy mixture and some cloth matting. Emery cloth in 400 grit or so for the final sand. Krylon spray paint for plastic and your lump is gone. The bad G-flex is 29.95 for small containers, spray foam, paint, hardening powder, and assorted materials your better than 50.00. How much for a Boyds custom stock? Does the Fortitude fit in the older wooden Disco stocks?

Guod123, thanks for the detailed info. Wow, I didn't think it was going to cost me that much money to cut off a piece and then fix up the surface. OK, good that I asked...!

And the Boyds custom stocks -- well, yeah, the do WOOD stocks -- and I like the synthetic. It looks better (to me), it's sturdier, and matte black it stealthier for the environment of much of my shooting.

However, the gray laminate looks very cool, and yes, I like it a lot. It would just add $137 plus shipping to the price of a $199 rifle.... So, not ideal, but something to think about.

THANKS a lot, Guod123!

Maybe some other suggestions? Other simpler or cheaper methods to modify the stock (cut a piece off from the fore-end, cut a hole into the butt stock)?

guod, Thank you for the information on the correct product for synthetics .

Seems like you've gotten the good information already. I was just going to suggest poping it in an easybake oven tho shaping might be easier using a air torch .

Sounds like your torn between looks & $ , hard spot.

That rifle feels very good in hand, maybe just wait untill you've got some finger prints on it and it will suit you better. It is well designed from a utilitarian point of view.
