How to fix leak on Bobcat due to dry blank firing ?

Hi Gent’s,
I am Jack Steward, live in Jakarta. It is really great for me found out and could join the forum that talk about air gun. I have a FX Bobcat and it was really great gun to shoot. But I just got the problem with it. I was not happy with the factory regulator setting result and would like to re-set it to get 900-915 fps, before was only 830 fps. I tried to empty the tube by dry blank firing it ( it is a fool, isn't it ?..yeah but I did it anyway ). After setting up the regulator, I got leak during filling up air in to the tube, it came out from transfer port to barrel. I assumed this must be the air valve not seating properly on the seat. Attempted to open it and checked it, seemed everything was normal .. I installed it back and re-fill it again with air, but the leak still happened. Does anybody know what was wrong with that or do I need to change something or adjust something here ?. Thanks in advance for your advise.

Jack, the above answer is most likely correct.

Cock the gun, then try filling.

The reason for this is the 'main air valve' is expected / intended to have a certain minimum of air pressure behind it to seat correctly, this applies across the board for most airgun makes.

REASON I KNOW THIS:

My first PCP, an AA300, was my pride and joy for at least 3 weeks then I forgot what the seller informed me about keeping track of the shot count (no manometer / air guage back then of course), I phoned the seller in a panic then drove 20 miles to see if it could be fixed only to be informed of the Cock the Gun First 'advice'.

My pure relief kind of covered-up my embarrassement !

(Now would you like to hear about my earlier 'First SCBA Tank embarrassement ?).

Gent's,

Thanks for reply.
I did cocking the gun before trying to fill it with air. But it still got leak.
I noticed ( there is a hole on the Bobcat body +/- 5 mm ) that we can see through it, the main air valve tip and hammer pin housing ( Bobcat has hammer pin covered by housing ). Once I cocked the gun, I can see the hammer pin housing was pulled back. And when I pressed the trigger, the hammer housing hit the main valve tip.
I opened the main air valve already and also the main air valve seat, seemed look OK but not sure when it was filled with air, I still got leak coming out from air transfer port to barrel.

Any idea to whom I can purchase the spare part ( complete main air valve and the seat ) as it is very difficult to find seller in Indonesia who provide spare parts of imported air guns. Tried to contact FX airgun ( [email protected] ) but so far No Reply yet.

I've got a couple things you can try, that might sound funny, but just may work. If you already inspected the valve stem, and seal head, and they looked OK, my guess is that they do not nee replacing. I may be tempted to check the seal head one more time making sure there is no nick or debris stuck on the sealing edge. If that does check out OK, try filling the gun standing on the end, muzzle pointed upwards. If air is leaking, try gently bumping the gun on the but pad (very lightly)... The other thing that works for me on some of the new builds is simply touching the valve stem while trying to fill. On the FX, they do have that small view hole that you can see it through - actually a vent, but that is another story... You can try slipping a small allen key (or tooth pick) into the hole and touching the valve stem while trying to fill. Might try touching the top, the bottom, or very lightly pushing it from the side. Sometimes this gets the seal head to pop into the right spot in the vale to seal it up...
