How Much is Peace of Mind (confidence) Worth

Oh, she knows the difference.

The analogy is intended for those who fail to discern the difference in quality of some other items with huge price differences.

Sure lucky to have someone who can "discern" that for everyone else.

Even luckier to have someone who decides that "everyone'" needs the analogy.

I do not want that material collecting in my PCPs. No more "empirical" evidence is necessary to move me to attempt to protect my investment.

I stated - "Can anyone emperically cite specific cases of failure from moisture?" and I would like to thank you for your images. Can you cite the failure outside of failure to shine? Can you show images of those or similar debris in your airgun? Can you provide more information as to where that coupling sits with regard to the Nardi setup and subsequent post-condensate tower filtering? If that is sourced from your compressor have you done root-cause analysis to determine their origin and if that is normal?

Thank you in advance!

Okay!

Okay!

I'll take the damn filter off, if it means that much to you.

I'm not emotionally invested in this discussion/thread. If you want to use it, go for it. If you want to remove it, go for it. Just struck me as odd that you'd need to filter at all for such a peace of mind inducing $3K compressor purchase that requires such limited maintenance.

Even more so, lots of people opine about all this nasty terrible moist air getting into peoples equipment. Seen quite a lot of filter failures and compressor failures. Where's all the air guns failing from this terrible moist air boogeyman?

If it’s money only the cheap ones replaced as needed almost has to win. If it’s peace of mind then there is no debate because to each his own. Buying expensive to get better ? Boy don’t we all wish that was universally true? Moisture contamination ? I think we would have to ask people who service and repair but my suspicions are it can’t be good for the gun? My personal experience has led me to a big old nitrogen tank which isn’t right for everyone but should be considered over ANY compressor.

If I was going back to a compressor I’d try to find a used diver quality compressor but I can’t say that’s justified and it seems silly to try.

The factor no one has discussed is how much you shoot. If you top off one tank a month you can’t really justify spending $10k. If you top several a week you might.

The moisture contamination thing concerns me more ( personally) Good thing about nitrogen or so they say. I’ve wondered about condensation inside the tank if kept over a period of time. Never heard that discussed

Not enough for the one I want. But I fully understand not wanting to spend so much on a compressor all at once.

At least I do have peace of mind with this AlkinW31E Mariner. I have children though so I can only dream of having to fill a 88 once a week. That’s a lot of shooting.

Yup yup, this is the one I want, and one day will get, if and when my Lightning gives up the ghost and is non repairable. That’ll be a long while yet, I predict.

as far as the comment on women’s shoes, lol, sure know about that. Imelda Marcos’s sister was my Godmother, so ah knows about the chus!

Honestly I bought a Yong heng and modified an inline filter from Ali express. I had no issues until the Yong heng stopped working 2 years later. I bought the 3 year insurance from Amazon and they sent me a check and let me keep the Yong heng. I'm going to buy another one and do the same thing and use the parts from the old one to fix it when it goes down. Essentially I got 2 free years of air. If your using a Yong heng often it will fail within 3 years you are pretty much guaranteed to have the same results as I did. I never had a single issue with condensation.
