So it’s no secrete I love my FX and love Ernest’s carbon liner sleeves, but I still think it’s really for high power application. I ordered a 500mm .177 barrel for the crown and it works/shoots great. Out of sheer boredom I ordered a barrel liner sleeve for the 177 liner, when I was installing the liner I was surprised to see my 500mm barre is not superlite but normal STX, at first I was a little bummed because it’s heavier but soon I was overjoyed because it can put it my Dreamline or even impact. out of boredom again I ordered some carbon tubes to replace the useless shroud which is too skinny to be of any use and forgot about it because they took a month to show up. Got them couple of weeks ago but thanks to work I finally got around cutting one for the crown today.
I am fully convinced this is just me being silly and stupid over kill especially when I’m shooting whopping 6FPE, granted the goal is to shoot nsa 12.5 slugs at 1000FPS later on. Plus I love the looks of carbon to begin with. Cutting took no time and the fit is perfect on the first try!
I freaking love it!!!
Not expecting anything beside looking cool I still had to shoot it of course. Then the damn thing is just pellet on pellet! By no means it was not accurate before but the pellets just seems to keep on going into the same hole! The pellets it had a little issue with is crazy consistent today. Weird I thought to myself and switched pellet just to make sure it’s not placebo affect or I’m just crazy. The other pellet always shot really well before but still seems a bit more consistent and then I realized that the left and right POI shift when I switch pellets isn’t noticeable like before. I am actually a little stumped, I did not expect ANY improvement in accuracy with the liner sleeve and barrel tensioner but there certainly evidence that suggests there is a difference even at the lowly 6FPE range. The crown now feels like my challenger or 1720T accurate at 20-30 yards. I always attributed the slight lower accuracy due to the super low power tune which isn’t the best for consistency or accuracy.
Anyways, I’m very very surprised or even stumped because in my mind there really should NOT be any accuracy or consistency improvement! Will find more time to shoot more and see how it goes. Has anyone else noticed accuracy/consistency improvements with carbon liner sleeve and barrel tensioner at low power? This one got me scratching my head a little.
