How many of you shoot Crosman Domed Pellets?

The Crosman pellets are OK.

I don't believe We have but one maybe two shooters in CASA ,shooting them....My target repair now is almost none since most switched to AA or JSB's

CP's are very hard and generally need sizing/sorting. Heavies also don't shoot well in lower powered guns (under 17fp) some say the 10.3 and + pellets ruin springs..

the 7.9 Crosman shoot about the same as 8.4 JSB's in my TX ...8.4's are better in the wind. the boxed CP's normally shot better than the tins.

Been trying a few different pellets since getting my new Swarm Maxxim .22

Not sure if this is what you were talking about. Picked up a tin of 500 Crosman Premier Domed Hollow Point 14.3 gr in .22 cal. Thought for $6 would be worth trying to see how they do through the new gun. Loaded em up and slung a few and was pleasantly surprised. From a standing position was able to get a 2" group at 25yds. For me they will be my new go to pellets for most everything as can't beat the price. I have a barrel about 125 yds away and had no problem hitting it however don't have any grouping info at that distance and again was shooting from a free standing position.

**Update**

So been shooting these now and got bored with the target at 25 yds. So thought I would try something more challenging. Decided I would remove all the remaining leaves from the walnut tree. Using a stable rest for a shooting position now, range is 35 to 37 yds. Have been consistently shooting the stems of the leaves to remove them from the tree. Used to play with game when I was a kid shooting the stems of the dandelions with my BB gun.

Soooo........what I'm trying to say is I think they are doing pretty well for me. Must have gotten a good tin. I will say they all looked pretty good and haven't seen but maybe a dozen with deformed skirts. For the price I'm pretty happy with the accuracy and will keep shooting them for now.

Supposedly brother the boxes are more consistent than the tin

I recently purchased a .22 Hatsan Gladius. Several reviews had stated it to be pellet picky and had noted H&N Barracuda's shot well for most of the reviewers so I ordered some before I received the rifle. They did shoot well. Crosman Premier Hollow Points by far shoot best in that rifle. Probably will depend on each person's individual rifle.

I've had my Gladius for a while now, and it really likes H&Ks and JSBs [When the JSBs aren't all mutilated straight out of the tin]
They fire best on the higher power settings - usually levels 5 and 6.
For indoor plinking at my 10 meter range, I'll put it on power levels 3 and 4 and shoot the Crosman Premiers.. They Work Amazing!
I had 3 out of 4 PCP rifles that Loved them. Now I have 5 out of 6. Every Single Tin Of CPs has had nearly perfect pellets in it!
Like I said before, I just snag the 600 count tins at WallyWorld if/when I'm there. I've gone through at least 4 full tins now,
only had to throw out a few pellets here and there, and I have a few more tins still to go through..

Anyways..

You brought up the Gladius firing them - So, here's a video of My Gladius firing them.. I actually just posted it this week:

Here's a list of my guns that absolutely love the CPs [in .22 cal / 14.3gr]
ATI Nova Vista Freedom, Hatsan Gladius, Kral Puncher Breaker, Artemis P15, Artemis PP700S-A [Pistol]
The only rifle so far that doesn't like them - and spits em' out like a shotgun birdshot pattern is my Kral Puncher Nemesis..
That rifle - Even on power-level 1 just seems to be just a bit too powerful. Too any FPS - at least for close-range..

Sam -

Damn Sam that's pretty awesome and a great rifle as well

Hey Josh, I have found that in my r9 and FWB 124d both in .177 cal they both prefer pellets in the 7.9 - 8.4 range. I think the 10 gr.are a little heavy for a 12 fpe gun. Flight time and flat shooting is what make the 12 fpe gun great. You lose that with the 10's. Just saying. Tommy.

True that Tommy. My cousin got em and I didn't want to seem ungrateful lol. I just want to trade em for some 20cal jsb or AA 8.4, 7.87, or jsb 8.4 or h&n ftt 4.53

I bought two tins of hollowpoints yesterday since my new Marauder seems to like the domed. Got them for $5.87 and started to check head size. The Marauder isn't as picky as the Gamo. To my surprise after measuring 100 pellets I only found 2 pellets that were undersize and they were only slightly under. Shot them at 12 yards and they make one ragged hole. While they may spread out at longer ranges it looks like the Marauder is going to be a cheap date indoors with the Crosman hollow points.

I disagree completely! The last order of die lot marked and dated 7.9 grain Crosman Premiers are considerably more consistent in head size than the 4.52mm JSB Exacts and H&N FTTs and more accurate from my .177 HW95 and .177 Beeman R9 springers............

Measured head sizes at random from a box of die "B" die lot dated Feb 3, 2014............

When I was shooting supposedly 4.52mm 8.4 grain JSB Exacts I found the pellet heads were very loose fitting and variable in my .177 Beeman R9 so I decided to measure a few thousand. Guess what, there were very few pellet with 4.52mm heads. Most had 4.50mm & 4.51mm heads with many in the 4.48mm - 4.49 mm lot...........

I tried the 4.52mm H&N FTTs and found the very same lack of pellet head size consistency...........

I do have to mention however that I recently received a 4 tin order of 4.52mm 8.4 grain Air Arms domes and found their pellet heads to be very consistent giving 4.51mm plus/minus a mm on my digital caliper.

Measuring a 1" test bar from my micrometer set.............

I realized how consistent the AA domes were when I pushed all 4 tins through my home made 4.50mm sizer and only a few out of 2,000 pellets were too small to be reduced with my 4.50mm sizer.............

Anywhoo......for my tight leade .177 HW95 the AA domes straight from the tin were accurate at 18 yards, however I haven't had a chance to test them at 50 yards yet...........

If the accuracy of the 4.52mm AAs holds up at 50 yards they may be the pellet to replace my die lot marked and dated CPLs, however it would be very difficult for the AA domes to shoot tighter groups than these shot with CPLs while I'm sitting on a bucket resting the gun on cross sticks............

The box of CPLs I received in December (die D dated July 2018) have head sizes ranging from .1765 - .1780 (4.48 - 4.52mm).

The majority are .1775 - .1780 (4.51 - 4.52mm). I was taking care not to measure across the parting line. Mold quality seems pretty good; the parting lines are barely visible and there is very little flashing around the skirts.

They look much better than the boxed heavies I received around the same time. Unfortunately after testing them in several rifles, I couldn't get them to group better than 3/4" - 1.5" at 25 yards. Most of these rifles will produce 1/4" - 1/2" groups with their favorite pellets, a mix of JSB/AA, H&N, and RWS.

i have shot the domes(22 cal), that i purchased from a forum member (i cant buy them in the Friggen state of Illinois,at least in my area ) they shot better (at longer distances )than the cphp, which shoot really well in my P-Rod's, I would like to buy some domes again sometime, right now I have probably 4000 cphp , & 6000 jsb 18's & it is too danged cold to shoot here right now.

Have had great luck with 10.5's in .177 and 14.3 in .22 BOTH in the DOME configurations ( Not the HP )

Sitting on @ 8 1250 count boxes of .177's and likely 8-9 500 count tins of .22's ... YUP shoot em, but also shoot JSB's

Yep find a pellet that works and buy a bunch of them ,

I do know that the brown box pellets lend themselves

to sizing down as I size my 10.5s to .1771" and they

shoot great from my Motorhead tuned Daystate guns ,

with no wind dime size groups at 55 yards
