How Many Of You Keep A Shot Count For Your Guns?

Do you guys keep track of how many pellets you send down range through each gun? I've been doing a little maintenance on some of my rifles and I wish I would have kept a record of how many times they've been fired.

My guns all seem to have a favorite pellet. With that said I can roughly estimate how many rounds I’ve shot through them by the number of empty tins for a particular pellet. Now I also shoot slugs from some and I haven’t kept count of slugs.

I've only kept a log of the last few guns I received. The reason I do it is basically for myself. If something goes down, I would like to know at what round count it does. I also do it for accuracy testing if the groups start to open up, I would then know my cleaning routine.

It can be hard at times to try and keep up with every single shot. When I first receive a gun, I run it through the chrony to check for efficiency and accuracy. I later go back and tally up the total shot count through saved data of the chrony strings.

Once I've found the right pellet for it, i try and stick to it and label them for that particular airgun and keep track by counting tins. Although I do like the idea of it, I've not been very religious about it until I guess when a problem arises. To each his own.

Was thinking about that when I realized my "brand new" Wildcat, seems to have had a previous life. Like an odometer on a car, any shot count recording device, affixed to a gun, would make buying new and used guns a little more transparent. Don't know if anything like that exists or if even possible to build, except maybe for electronic guns. Interesting thread, Moog.

Sounds a bit OCD to me? ;^) I have a hard time just keeping track of where I am and when I last ate.

I resemble that remark.........too closely.

I'm another one. I resemble that remark as well.

I kinda keep a mental count by tins. Close enough. closer than that and the OCD really kicks in and I want to do all sorts of spreadsheet analysis. Best not to go there

:)

I've been to my club today with my Leshiy2, I had some leftover pellets in the bag from last week about a 3/4 tin. After about an hour I had to leave - ran out with amo. Lets call that 250+ shots for today. 2-3x a week is still shy of 1K......uhm this just reminds me to reload the range bag.

For me easier to count the scba refills, I have 4 large 14L fireman bottles and my compressor is running ones a month.

Tin counting doesn't work for me since my three springers all happen to like the same pellets and I don't keep separate stacks of tins of the same pellet. I guess I could but I don't.

I have a general idea of what I've shot through each one but I could be off a good bit in my estimates. Sometimes I wish I had kept better track but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
