If you have any inclination towards prepping, I would say it's a smart move to have a pump for back-up. I try not to go overboard with doomsday preparation as some of my colleagues have (10-20k), but some semblance towards preparatory activity makes sense. I think I could find a better workout routine though. Haha. In my picture you'll see me doing reverse bobcat curls. Very effective for airgun use!

I use my Hill MK4 to top off my Wolverine B .22 all the time. I don't have a compressor, so I like to use the pump when I'm around the house to save my buddy bottle for when I actually need it (i.e. at the range, or shooting a lot of pellets in one sitting). I don't find it all that difficult or time consuming to fill my rifle to 230 bar from 190/180 bar. The Hill MK4 is the only pump I've used, so maybe I'm spoiled compared to other pumps. I bought it for the "last resort" filling senerio, but I find myself using it all the time.

i keep my Benji Pump handy. Sometimes its easier to throw in the truck than the scuba tank. not a problem at all for topping off the gun a couple times during a morning hunting trip.

Can you use a regular air compressor? I don't know, and I don't own PCP yet so enlighten me please...

No You have to use a high pressure air compressor that goes up to 4500 psi. Regular shop compressors only go to 150 to maybe 200 psi. The hand pumps we are talking about go to around 3300 or a little more and are made just for pcp air gun use.

I have a Benjamin hand pump that I rebuilt many times...
Since a shoebox purchase I have no intentions of using it...... but will keep it handly

I'm keeping my pump locked up in a cedar closet since I have a working SCBA setup going, but if there is a day where I think the SCBA doesn't have the air to get to max pressure I'll bring it along to do top offs. Though since I have a good setup for using SCBA tanks I'm thinking of grabbing another soon and strictly leaving it charged for hunting use, and use my first tank strictly for plinking/zero and pesting.
