How has covid 19 affected your airgun activities?

In an attempt to not continue with the political rhetoric theme of this post, I can open my eyes wide enough to see all points here.

To the OP, I’ll reiterate what others said. If your profile pic is a recent photo of you, I would say save your stress regarding your 401k, etc. for another few decades. Don’t beat yourself up now.

The feds are both friends and foe. We tend to focus on them taking our guns, but fail to realize that they are the reason we are allowed to keep them.. for now.

We all get stressed in times like these, and we cope differently. And yes, the media doesn’t help. Even our VP doesn’t help to calm the people by telling the country that this can last until July. These type of unfounded claims only feed into the hysteria. We all need to be our best and think of everyone.

Sure, it’s easy to sit on my high horse and preach here. I am guilty of sinking into the fear as well. I went out a few weeks ago looking to stock pile 20lbs bags of rice. We all not need to fear and think this way, especially us. I have enough squirrels in the neighborhood to feed my family and neighbors too. God knows we have the tools our fellow airgunners.

Now let us get back to those exciting Airgun posts!

On a side note, my Huma RAW reg came in today!!! My first raw is a non X model which is the “high power” model without reg. My goal is to cut down a BSA barrel to about 17”, install it along with the Huma reg to gain some plenum space, and replace the metal bottle with an Uragan bottle, if available. This should make one interesting carbine. She wears a Theoben MFR walnut stock. I think the Uragan bottle will complement the stock nicely.

Canceled a trip to the Carolina classic and also a local bench rest shoot at Sherwood Airgunners. My biggest fear is ALOT of people are not taking this serious enough. Best thing we can all do is avoid as much travel as possible right now. Stay at home and away from people. Airguns will be there when this has passed but now is not the time to be selfish and do whatever u want to do. Be smart people and do the right thing.

This is very SERIOUS!, keep your distance, and wash your hands often! My middle son and I were going to fly out to SLC and visit my oldest son and possible check out the RMAC, but not taking that chance now!, also my son just diagnosed his first two patients this wk. and one was a 42yr old male with no past history of any underlying medical conditions nor did he smoke! He had to be intubated and put on a ventilator. So please take this seriously... lets keep the airgun community safe and healthy along with family and friends.

My wife just had hip surgery, we planned that I would be home 24/7 till I could trust her alone. She is compromised by the surgery so we are homebound. The only sure cure for the virus is no contact or 2nd best as little as possible. I've been out once in 2 weeks, mask and gloves. I can shoot squirrels in the yard, cans and targets or in my 40' crawl space for chronograph work. Clean guns, sort pellets, work on the house and yard as weather permits. She is up and about and only needs help getting into the tub for a shower. I am still cook, cleaner, and the rest. I suppose we might go for a drive to the mountains weather permitting. I did order an Impact compact .25 from Pyramyd. Hoping to get lucky on the 1rst shipment. we can stay home and biggest problem is people feel the need to visit her. we just say NO

This is a practice run to see how a takeover of the world will play out . From the comments made here some will give in and believe anything they are told and some will have the strength to stand up to THEM. I bet everyone advocating for shelter in place also believes if you give THEM enough power they can control the climate. I am sorry guys but if WWII was held today Hitler would probably take us fairly easily. We have had American exceptionalism bred out of us and it's sad to see. Reach down there and grab that pair and quit being such wimps.

Love my airguns by the way !!!

There are folks who live in a world of fear and paranoia. To suggest the virus is a hoax, is like claiming the holocaust didn't happen. To the majority, I would simply suggest, take a deep breath and deal with it. Your IRA will come back, as will our economy in general. I try to look at it like this; worst case, we will be dealing with this through most of 2020. I think back on my school years, just pick a year to remember, and that's the period of time we are dealing with. Looking back on it, that school year was a drop in the bucket. Granted, at age 70, my bucket isn't as big as it used to be, but we will recover and be stronger for it. Regarding the question of air rifle shooting, I'm probably doing more, either in the yard or at my gun club, a 20 minute drive. If we have a "shelter in place" ruling, then my club trips may be curtailed, but I see no interruption to the back yard shooting. Right now, panic buying and hoarding is the biggest local problem. That is one area in which I think the government dropped the ball. Some of the staples that have disappeared from the shelves should have been rationed two weeks ago.

+1. ^^^this^^^...thanks for the common sense post!!!

The rain here in Ohio has curtailed my airgunning more than the virus has. I'm here at home ready to pull the trigger. I did just get a new Huma regulator for my Edgun .30 that I'm going to install today. But another day of rain then some time to dry out. Ah just kidding, I forgot, I can shoot from my living room! Active targets out to 205 yards.

In the short term it's good to be home and shooting out back. Next week I will paint my sailboat in the back yard. In the long term the hit on the economy really screws up my early retirement plan for 2022. Well, a semi-retirement plan anyways. The wife and I had planned to move to either Northern Georgia or Port Charlotte, FL and only work part time. That was based on a decent re-sale on our house and a 3% unemployment rate down South. Now who knows what's out there. I have a decent job here and after 16 years they still love me at work. It would be hard to go somewhere that's economically broken.

It's made me appreciate them more..They say it's good to get fresh air and I believe sooting AG's outside is a great way to do that. Not getting away from here has helped me enjoy tweaking my guns, installing a gtr lll trigger and organizing my accessories. I heard the other day "it's an introverts paradise"...I tend to agree(for me anyway😉) Stay well all. 👍🙏

Not buying a thing !!!

Agreed....some nice new guns and scopes out there. I love how the Leshiy 2 looks and the new Element scopes look really nice but the timing is horrible for their release due to this Corona virus. With so much uncertainty I'm not spending any unneeded cash. Fortunately I have some nice guns and equipment and will live what I have until this virus goes away and we get back to a normal life. Stay healthy people !

Not buying into the politics or conspiracy theories. This virus is an act of nature. Sorry. I work in the medical field with a degree in Biology. We are taught to observe and draw conclusions from hard scientific fact.

That said, My shooting has been affected by this situation.
I recently bought an Impact MK2 with pier plenum and 700 mm barrel in .25.
I immediately had clipping troubles and traced it to the moderator. FX sent one to me. Then I couldn’t tune high enough for slugs as I had the weaker hammer spring. Ordered the 57 mm from FX. This has all taken me a month but the gun is together and shooting plenty hot. I did a test with the Nielsen slug sample pack and found that my gun likes the 38.5 grainers.
And here’s where the virus comes in.
California was locked down last night so no slugs coming in from Nielsen. Hope I’m wrong but nobody is supposed to leave their homes.
Finally got the gun working and still can’t shoot it

But on the upside, I have a Gen. 1 Impact that shoots JSB 34 gn lights out at 60 meters.
And I have a very accurate Kalibrgun Cricket in .25 got 10 tins of MK II as well so I’ll be fine......

so long as I can get my tank filled. 🙄🙄

I don't see how anybody could conclude that the virus is natural or synthetic. As it is right now the voluminous BS that is flowing from every source MSM and Alternative are making that difficult if not impossible. Trump was elected by pointing out all the "fake news", and rightfully so. It hasn't stopped it's only increased.

So use this time to practice your shooting skills. You may need them soon.

Whether or not the virus is natural or synthetic, accidental or intentional The usual suspects, enemies both foreign and domestic will try to capitalize on it.
