How has covid 19 affected your airgun activities?

I'm just curious. For me everything has changed my retirement I counted on is gone. My club is not allowed to meet. My county is under shelter in place which means cops pull you over and ask if your going for food or to the hospital and lastly my church is considering not gathering for the first time since they started... Guys I'm not minimalising the threat but doesn't government always use problem reaction solution to gain more and more power and are we not fighting a globalist agenda that threatens airgun laws as well as every other law?its not just libtards guys, I hear that alot on here. They want to say things are too dangerous to allow freedom. They don't care what that freedom is. I love you guys I hope with every fiber in my soul that you realise the threat and stand up. Do not trust the government. They want a socialist solution that includes outlawing airguns. Look at Europe and just ask do you want a solution to a problem to be taking your high power airguns? If you how about your real guns? How Bout mandatory vaccination how about we give everyone in America a government income? The answer is always socialist bs. God bless guys please tell how this has affected your airgun activities.

I dont think you know how serious this virus is. Look at this map from the CDC

And look at what is going on in Italy

The reason why this happening is to flatten the curve of the spread of the virus.

I wasn't going to say anything but this is something everyone needs to take caution. So stay home, watch some Netflix, shoot your airguns, and let's hope this will past.

Just on the airgun front, I highly doubt that they are looking to take them away even if they now sell ones that can kill a person. They haven't tried to make people register to buy a black powder gun yet(depending on state laws)and they have been able to kill since they were first created. I think it's more about the limited amount of lead that can be sent out and the limited range compared to what would be sent back. That being said, all it takes is for one incident to happen for them to change everything.

That map is out of date. Minnesota has 60 cases now.

This one is updated every day.

Another thing to ponder, some years back big brother wanted to have a DNA database of every American citizen, it didn’t go as they had hoped, now they say everyone will have to be tested for this virus! Hmm done with a swab to the mouth, what’s interesting is that’s how the also take DNA samples. Bingo here is their dna database complete. Don’t let them test you unless your actually sick, just my thought

Anyone that has voluntarily sent their DNA to a site to search their genealogy has been added to a data base list. Same result just a different way to achieve it.

After a person signed up for Obama care online a hidden paragraph popped up that said they were OK with giving up all HIPPA privacy laws.

@Raden1942 - I totally agree with you. I can also see how this pandemic could strongly benefit the socialists and gun haters that support them. People are panicked and many that were not dependent on government are becoming very dependent for help. Socialism can only work when people are strongly dependent on government, so I fear what's to come.

The (dis)information is also abysmal at nearly all levels. Information is power - most people (sheeple) get their information from mainstream media and google. Something that I want to highlight is that I've worked in the tech industry for a couple of decades, and over this past 7-8 years, I have observed the "dumbing down" of internet search as this newest generation of programmers / engineers are building in their liberal values into most of their platforms. It has also become very difficult to find information on keywords / subjects that oppose their views or compete with their employers. Information is power, what ONE company has the most control over information? I'll give you a hint - #2 is https://www.blacklistednews.com/article/76465/wikipedia-a-disinformation.html

Now the majority of proponents of the 2nd amendment are getting up there in age. The newer generations aren't taught about life in America in times where we all knew where the closest fallout shelters were, and how none of us could have imagined the oppression of freedom that socialists / communists were imposing on their people, the secret police and authoritarianism. The "leading" tech companies in the information and media space do not hire anyone over 30. They openly age discriminate against those old enough to know better. You'll find that all of them are in bed with the gov. If this virus takes its toll on it he generations that remember what freedom meant, then our stocks will be down. Way down.

I'm not looking forward to the outcome. REI and the socialist liberal leaders in western WA have already made it near impossible for me to hunt or legally shoot less than an hour and a half away (140 miles round-trip + heavy traffic both ways). They lobbied for building hiking trails in every area outside of Seattle and all the way 2 hours into eastern WA, which is all now a "No shooting safety corridor". REI does not sell any sporting goods or equipment pertaining to hunting or shooting, and they back the liberals that have created the massive drug and homelessness problems here, known to their financiers as the "industrial homeless complex" (a billion dollar industry BTW).

So yeah, for the moment - this covid-19 poop hasn't made my current airgunning activities any worse, but I can only guess what the aftermath will bring. The gov told me that face masks do nothing to prevent infection. Then, they told me that hospital workers need those useless masks in the ER rooms across America. For those that have problems identifying the bogus media outlets, look back on those who were propagating that and the other lies the hardest. Disinformation can be hazardous to your health.

To answer the question, how has this affected my airgun activities:

I am not going to the Pacific Air Gun Expo in Placerville because it was cancelled. I have nothing to sell and certainly didn't need to buy any more, but it would have been fun and educational.

I bought a new 10m air gun I've always wanted and am shooting more indoors because silhouette and field target competitions I attend are in a mandated shelter in place county and likely won't be held for some time, if not for the rest of the summer.

I'm rebuilding a couple of R8's, disassembled them and brought them to a gunsmith for a professional hot blue and am learning the difference between wood dyes and wood stains so I can apply a factory like finish to the stocks when I re-do them. Wood dyes are the way to refinish beach wood stocks.

I'm finally finishing my list of airguns and accessories, photos, detailed descriptions and notes on OEM parts separated from the original guns (sights, butt pads, etc.) so some day when someone is tasked with liquidating my estate they have an easier time of it.

I am shooting less there and more here and tending to some air gun matters that were on the back burner for too long because I didn't have time for them before.

It all sucks.....but it would suck more without airguns!

Be safe, friends.

Not at all; I am more afraid of stupid people than government, though I think they are one in the same.Does not matter what you think the government might do,what matters is what you do about it.....if the government does what you Think it is going to do; I have more faith, plus I do pretty much what I feel like doing .....without doing stupid things....that I can be caught doing....got it?

None, except I bought 7 tins of pellets that I could have put off for a while. I'm spending a little more time a home and have more time to shoot. I don't know about the state you live in but in Tennessee shooting is as natural as mowing your grass my County just declared itself a "gun sanctuary county" (Maury), be safe and responsible and nobody cares, I'm not gunna' live in these gun law crazy states myself I enjoy the sport too much, I bought some land 21 years ago and that makes hunting and shooting even better. The vast amount of people who contract this virus are going to recover, every "official" rat catcher and street sweeper are"loving" their 15minutes of fame, toilet paper...give me a break, not sain' don't do prudent things like wash your hands ect. I do that every time I go to a public store anyway, in 1976 when I was in the Navy it was the swine flu, had to get the shot or couldn't get off the ship, (USS America CV66), the virus doesn't worry me as much as the ignorance of the population and a disfunctional government, this is an "airgun forum" and I hate these political diatribes but some things need sayin'! I have a bad headache and can't sleep sorry...BTW Google how many people die from smoking related illnesses every day. I love the people on this forum and try to PM someone new every week, I've met some great people and wish everyone the best!

It has delayed my move from learning by reading/watching to actual shooting, I intended for my first and only gun buying a huben k1 2020 .25 (made* in Hong Kong, NOT at the moment) two years of planing, getting a licence, saving, put of until?.

However considering I may be about to lose my job, and may even die/lose loved ones, air gunning is low on the important list.

ps "THEY" (the powers that be) are making hay, Covid19 is Manna (sic) for them, maybe even man made (deliberate).

good luck.

For me I had to cancel trip to NRA convention next month ( it's cancelled) ark Airgun show is cancelled ,planned on a trip with a pretty good size group to go to the 2000 yard Ft worth range and was gonna try for some super long range Airgun shots ( guys decided best not to go ) .

Keeping my fingers crossed this passes and RMAC is still going to happen .....but each day I doubt it more and more .

My main Shooting buddy and I are both cancer survivor s . And after what we went thru we just aren't as strong as before . So I will just play a lil in the back yard , BBQ , keep a cooler full , and ride it out with my wife .

Have a Impact 30 coming soon , excited to play with it . Scary times

You can always get going on the binocular reviews. Sorry, after your Y tube vid I just had to.

The nasty virus has changed nothing in my airgun life and very little in the rest of my life. Although I have noticed traffic is considerably lighter on my way to the range. Less people in the drive through so easier to get my cheeseburger and fries on the way to the range as well. Looks like a good part of the shooting competitions are cancelled so guess the ranges will be open to me and my airguns a bit more. Although store hours have been reduced so no more 2AM shopping. I guess since I should not be out and about I will have more time to werq on my airguns. It's a rough life in the first world but somebody has to live it.

With the “also suffered from” part usually appearing two paragraphs down, you know we’re being worked for political purposes. Traditional people knocked a couple of their teeth out with brexit and trump, so... play the security card and fear monger the flu to their women.

Im old and can ride the nonsense out for the duration with my main concern being where to shoot my remaining air rifles. My family? A clannish pack of wolves, especially my daughters. They’ll be fine, come what may
