How do you verify that your gun barrels are clean and without deformation ?

In my day we didnt have the optio of fancy camaras, so we looked thru the bore, and would get a small piece of dowel rod and push a pellet thru. If we noticed any raggedness on the pellet, then push another. This time the pellet only went a quarter of the way in then pushed back out, if no issues then the next went half way then repeat until you found the peoblem area. Unless you find a bad or rusted area, minor flaws will not make much difference in accuracy. I have saw some barrels with some nasty spots yet shot very well. As mentioned many times, the last few inches and the crown are the most important!
