How do you like your Sig Sauer APS?

I had heard that the Sig ASP Super Target is a redesigned FAS 6004. Basically the same pistol internally, with shape changes external.

The FAS 604/6004, hands down. There are parts and a great deal of support from the airgun community with regard to them. SIG? Terrible support, on everything. Their air pistols are an after thought. Sold for a minute, then abandoned.

Close but...NO. They are NOT...the same gun at all, other than they have the same power plant and both are pistols !
I like the ASP a little better. Better grip, slightly more power, the top strap locking is better, it's a little easier to install the pellets into the barrel, overall, the build quality is pretty much the same.
If I were to sell one, it would be the 6004.

I would point out that the US distributor of the FAS is Chiappa. They, like SIG, also have a terrible customer service record. What the FAS 6004 has going for it is that the gun evolved from the hand built FAS 604 and the airgun community knows how to repair and maintain these pistols.
Additionally, one can buy the pistol with ambidextrous grips, target grips, or buy custom grips made by Rink. The FAS 6004 can be used to shoot ten meter matches. The SIG lacks the grip options that would make it a good choice for 10 meter competition.

And like I said above, if there is a power repair problem, they DO have the same power plant, so fixing one is the SAME as fixing the other.

I read the Sig is made Italy and is fact made by Chiappa ,made to look like the Sig target pistol,,,,
tt would seem that the HW75 would be a better choice now....
I do have the Beeman P-1....HW45.....I like it,but do not shoot it much anymore..

I have used both extensively and offered the tuning advice for the FAS on the Target Talk forum.
In OEM out of the box form, the SIG might just have the edge, because they (Chiappa Firearms) had ironed out the barrel sealing issue and improved the finish of the Blacking, using a slightly different process by the time they started production of the SIG, but if you are thinking of a such a purchase, I have heard that Chiappa have temporarily suspended production of the FAS to implement these improvements.
However, if following my advice on Target Talk in modifying the breech seal, the FAS will develop the same power and consistency, but is far and away superior to the SIG in other regards. To understand this, you need a knowledge of Target pistol shooting, the form and fit, the operation etc.
Briefly, the FAS grip (in its target grip option) allows the dropped wrist, straight line of the arm and wrist ….The SIG dose not. The FAS should be handled in store, where you can choose the grip size, then ordering the grip to suit you….4 grip options. The SIG just has a straight up grip. with no adjustment, or options.
Once adjusted, the FAS trigger has the edge and the opening lever is possibly the best ever fitted to a pistol. A light side snick of the thumb, allowing the strap to be lifted in one fluid movement. The SIG thumb lever requires more hand shifting to get the thumb around the back of the gun to get thumb over it to release.

Funny - Steveoo's last two paragraphs are exactly why I like the ASP "better". Not by a huge margin, but a little. And "my" ASP's slide is notably tighter in the ASP than "my" 6004 at the front pivot. That's a "Quality" thing, more than a design thing.
The APS grip is just fine. No need to spend a bunch of extra money on more grips.
The slide catch on the 6004 has about 1/2 the grip surface as the ASP. The slide lockup "should" be no problem on either gun, but I prefer the larger surface area on the ASP for a more positive lockup.
The triggers...50% - 50%. A slightly different feel, the reach from the grip to the trigger IS different. And yes I do prefer the farther reach of the 6004, but I'm adaptable !

If we are talking back yard casual target practice then you get no strong arguments from me Mike, but if shooting in formal (or formal-ish matches) the FAS takes it. Its possible you may have not tried a correct sized match grip, which if you take the time and trouble to select for the correct fit, will get you much more out of the FAS in correct hold ability and repeatability. Indeed, in selecting a medium grip and spending 20 minutes adjusting for best fit, i can honestly say i have never shot a better fitting pistol, even including a FWB 65.
Sadly i could do none of this with the SIG and ending up just using it duel handed as if a HW75…Indeed, i actually find the HW75 a better gun and more powerful too…Its still a decent gun and better looking than the 75. I know of 2 people who prefer it the 75.
Accepting at this level, that its just a few edge effects which may favour one shooter over another.

What is great is to be able to "listen" to an intelligent debate by shooters that have direct experience with the pistols....I use custom grips on all my pistols ,also aware of how the target pistol shooters use their arms and hand as an extension of pistol.....something I do not care about as I am only a casual target shooter,never-the-less it was a very interesting and informative read....in a small way how shooters can use a rifle sling to be able to shoot more accurately.....balance and stability.

In underlined / bold above, I fully agree.
And yes, I've made "molded" to MY hand, grips for a couple of my rifles, so I fully...understand the "fit" part of it, which, yes, makes the hand position the "same" every time that you put your hand on the grip.
I've also modified "target" grips to better "fit, my" hand (my 6004 FAS being one of them !). I have a bit larger hands than most, and most grips are way too "tight" if that word fits. I've modified about 1/2 of the grips on my guns, to better fit ...me.
BUT...all this said...I "still" like the ASP grip..! Admittedly, I did add a piece of the Talon grip panel to the palm side of my ASP's grip panel to enlarge it a tiny bit, and give it a better, less slick feel.
