How Do You Guys Keep Your Wife From Seeing All The Packages Arriving

My wife ran off and left me with two preteen daughters. After I finished raising them, and they moved out and got married, I figured I deserved a serious reward so bought a few airguns and nobody even complained. Now days I just let the addiction have it's way with me as it always seems to know exactly what I want so I don't even try to fight it anymore. ;^) Still waiting for my M3 though five weeks now. But that is giving me time to buy some accessories for it anyway.

I track the package with text notices. When the day comes that it's out for delivery, I give her the credit card and send her to the mall. 10 minutes after she leaves, I call the credit card company and put a temporary hold on it. Package arrives and I place it in the den with the others. When she returns complaining, I pretend to call the cc company and rant how humiliated my wife was. Then we go out for dinner and all is well.

  1.  ship elsewhere
  2.  pick-up at destination shipping point
  3.  send her off on the arrival day (nails and hair day)
  4.  Lie:
    • tell her it's wrong and you're sending it back
    • tell her it's a replacement for the last package that you returned
    • tell her it's a free repair part for what broke under warranty
    • tell her it's a returned part they repaired -Hey!, they sent a new part instead!
    • tell her it's for a friend with bad credit, he's gonna pay you when you take it to him
    • put your neighbors name on it; "hmm, the shipper got the address wrong, I'll hand deliver it..."

    [/LIST=1]

Not that I do any of these...

1. Talk about gun stuff until she starts ignoring you

2. Start talking about gun stuff and include "plus the stuff later this week" in there somewhere

3. Act offended when she says she didn't know about it later, you told her!

In all honesty, I just keep my purchases reasonable, and ensure it is not out of hand. That said, this huben k1 sure is nice...that one was a little bit of a stretch - but then, 2 weeks later, its a surprise promotion and raise at work, and now no one is complaining about the huben :)

Sign up for all major carriers sites, ups, FedEx, usps. Can reroute, hold at location, or even see if the timing is good just to let it be delivered 😂

When I was ordering $1000's in drone parts, I used to have some vendors includes notes saying I won things vs the actual invoice LOL

Edit-sometimes asking doesn't hurt either. She surprised me and signed off on the M3 purchase...I knew I couldn't just magically have another $2k air rifle appear 🙃

I had a big powder burner and knife collection when I met my wife. For the most part I buy investment grade things for my hobbies. I have been downsizing that collection to fund my airgun buying. She is impressed I sell most of my guns for what I bought them for after 10 plus years of shooting. She also see's I sell my ammo for 4 to 5 times what I bought it for after 5 or 10 years. Not a lot to argue about there. I sold my motocross/desert racing stuff to fund the powder burners.

I am still buying and selling into and out of hobbies with the same money I made 25 years ago. I try to get the wife to buy investment grade things but she wants clothes and house junk that instantly goes to 15% what you bought it for before you can get from the store to your car. From there it quickly goes to garage sale value. She makes considerably more money than I do so such is life.
