how do you guys feel about .20 cal

I have gone back and forth here a couple of times on the .20, may yet get me one at some point, even if just to see for myself.

Now, one (or yet another negative) that I notice is the economics of it all in some models. I recently was tempted by a good sale AoA is having on the HW30. I click on it and chose the .20 with a certain project in mind. The .20 comes in at $110 more than the .177 or .22, just for the privilege.

You can call AOA and order a HW50 in .20 for only $40 more than .177 or .22

I’ve shot them but .177 is flatter and the ammo selection in .20 is next to non. .22 is much better for put down. I get the sentiment with the whole “between the two” idea but considering how hard it is to find quality pellets for it is like getting a .25-30 or a .303 and thinking you can find the ammo at Walmart when nope, that ain’t happening.

Well I got outside to play with the TalonP. I set the trap at 25 yards, so I was going to sight it in at that distance. Inside the 13.73 JSBs were one ragged hole at 875 fps, outside the group opened up. Backed the power wheel off from 10 to 2, shot a lot better, so I tried 4 still fine, at pw setting of 6 the groups started opening up again. Crony is inside so no idea what it's shooting at but hitting 1/2" dots at 25 yards with a 4x scope. Cross hairs completely covered the dots. But what amazed me was the shot count. I was trying to keep mental track but that didn't go very well. I would guess 35 plus shots, I was shooting for a long time without refilling., 3000 down to 2000 psi. Not to bad, TalonP, 12" barrel in .20 cal. .123 diameter transfer port.

be healthy everyone

Well it looks like you have it regulated though so that is the largest contributor to the shot count being high. You are correct though you will get more shots if you are choking it down. .20 cal barrels at AirForce are on sale right now too.

Careful on your backdrop!

Non regulated, and yes I did get my barrel on sale. Under 62 bucks to my door. Pellet choices, JSB makes two weights and I'm good with that, PA has a choice of 6 including JSB and H&N. Even better. This gun is so easy to change up on calibers and power settings. Shooting is fun (the military taught me that) farting around with these things and seeing the results is even better. I would not want to tear into any of my near $2000 rifles. This thing at under 500...it's like having an erector set when you were a kid. Its loud, no new technology, crude in it's own way, not at all refined. But that's what I like about it. Trap is set at 25 yards and rated for up to 357 magnum. As long as I dont shoot the house I'm good.

stay healthy

I bought the carbine model from AGD. I have another post here about my quest to make it more backyard friendly. Made a handfull of parts, packed baffles in the can. Tried lots of things. End result, stock moderator was 89+ db. Modded can and mount 81 db. And with the Sumo and my mount, 81 db . That was in .25 In .20 I only lost 1/2 db. I was expecting more.

So I let a friend at our Airgun club Al Duster who is strictly a Springer guy shoot my RAW HM1000 .20 aka BLUE BEAST today. He has never shot a 250 bench rest card with his springers and Al is 72 years old. After a few shots that were 10's we convinced Al to shoot a full card to see how he would do. Since he was having a hard time loading the pellet into the breach my buddy Jeff Little was cocking and loading the gun for ole Al. Well Al the Springer guy ended up shooting his first 250 Bench Rest card with a club record 19 X's! That's right...and the first time he's ever shot this gun. This is the 3rd person who shot their first 250 bench rest card with my .20 gun. The first pic is Al's 250 BR card with the 19 X's and second is the gun he used my RAW HM1000 .20 BLUE BEAST!
