How and what would you choose in PPP's

From all these PPP's (price point pcp's) out here today what is the most desirable, efficient, accurate and adequate power. Now I'm not totally sure if I want to just jump right into pcp's because I am a springer man/shooter but all this talk about affordable, accurate and powerful with some easy to air up by hand pump well it's been gaining some of my interest. So I would exclude the Benjamin line from your choices, aside from the marauders, and exclude some of those hatsans. But for example, nova freedoms, aspen, gauntlet, gamo, bsa. What do you pcp shooters like, suggest and why? Much appreciated

EDITED:

What I would use it for would be target shooting and occasional pesting. So I'm thinking 177 cal or 22cal would be sufficient. Well maybe not 22cal because I may or may not try it in HFT PCP. Also the reason I wrote hand pump is because realistically tanks are expensive unless as DC below stated about getting a used one. I am just really stuck about the cost of starting up with tank, fill station and so forth. Then you gotta know about hammer tension or throw and yada yada yada. Springers are so much simpler. But I love em. Darn it feels like I'm cheating on my springers as I write this lol

I could have saved thousands of dollars by going directly to the top instead of graduating thru a dozen pcp's. For affordable I would look here on AGN classifieds for a FX Royal. My final gun, the one that gets 80% of my practice is the Daystate Red Wolf HP. As an old springer man myself, I can tell you that you are going to love the PCP's. Also unless you are really fit and would welcome a workout, get a carbon fiber air tank if there is anywhere near you to get it filled. Good luck, you are going to love any pcp you end up with.

Dude my dads gamo urban I bought for him is right on accurate and thats without a regulator. If you wanted to add a reg it would be even more consistent but im not going to bother. An fx royal will get more power and is way more adjustable but if you got an adjustable regulator you could have a gun that is almost as adjustable albeit not as powerful. I think with the factory spring you can get from 18 to 30 fpe out of it. I tuned my dads at 22 fpe and get twenty to 27 shots with no poi change at 20 yards. Im sure id need to tighten that string up a bit at 50 or 100. Seriously I am going to buy another one for myself. I think the accuracy potential out of the bsa barrel on the gamo exceeds crosmans maximus or disco, umarex guantlet or any other gun in its class except maybe the hatsan flash. Ive heard people are very satisfied with the flashs accuracy altho i cant speak on that myself. As for me i will take shotcount over the raw power of the flash and sling cph at 850 fps with rediculous accuracy. 270 bucks at pyramid air after 10 percent coupon. Id try that before buying a 1500 dollar used fx. You can get a flash or vectis refurbished at hatsan for 200 for flash and 249 or 259 for vectis I cant remember. Good luck to u

Hey Josh, to keep the expenses down get a pcp that's easy to hand pump. I know you are an accuracy nut so let's get it right the first time. Look for a AA s200 or cz 200 in .177. fill to 180 bar easily with pump. Will shoot jsb/AA 8.4 in small cloverleaf @ 40 yds and beyond.. pesting/target shooting a dream. One of the best barrels in the business. From the 180 bar fill you get 40 shots. That's 4 mags before topping off. Hope this help buddy.

None of those are budget but i see guys at my club wath aa s200s and higher grade. They are epicly accurate. If your still going low end certain gamo coyote/bsa buccaneers can be found cheaply in 177. like i said the bsa barrels are plenty accurate for hft they MIGHT be just as accurate as the aa s200. Cant verify that but I have seen people do very well with them.

Three guns that I can personally speak for and have had in .177 would seem to fit your bill.

First was my Marauder, second my Air Arms S500, and lastly my 2007 model FX Logun that I purchased used for just $500.

I didn't know about the 13.4 grain JSB's in .177 caliber back when I had the Marauder and the S500, but my friend that bought the Marauder from me is doing extremely well in Field Target with it.

My FX Logun loves the 13.4 gr .177 JSB's and is very accurate with the old model LW barrel. I fill it to 2600 psi and shoot down to 1700 psi for a good 35 shots at the top of the velocity curve.

I would say look for a reputable seller and try to find a good used gun. This Logan is a keeper and I have some pretty expensive guns.

I had a Gamo Urban that I would highly recommend, but they only come in .22 cal.

As for comments above....I have seen guys with AA S200 and Gamo Coyote's at Field Target matches do well with both. I would go with the AAS200 in your case because of the lower fill pressure since you are hand pumping? I have a friend who has a .22 Gamo Coyote that comes over regularly. The gun is very accurate but it's a 30 fpe hammer which is way too powerful for FT.

Best of luck. And your springers will probably start to collect some dust once you make the PCP plunge!

Both of my PCPS are. 22 but if I was going to get into pcp I'd get the ATI freedom. I love my Aspen but hate the fact if it has a warranty problem in the next year it'll cost me around $37 to do so. ATI pays for shipping on warranty problems. With the freedom it has a built-in pump and as such you are the regulator. I shoot once then pump 5 to 6 times keeping it right around 3k psi. You would have to pump less with a.177 I would think.
