How Accidents Happen.

Since we are all admitting some of the stupid/distracted stuff we've done, here's mine. I have a "chrono box" I use for airsoft BBs and lower powered airguns. It's basically and airsoft chrono in a cardboard box with many layers of ballistic nylon fabric lining. The I didn't think of at the time was that most of the time consecutive shots were hitting the same space. Not an issue for 6mm plastic airsoft BBs. Not much of an issue for diablo shaped pellets either as the fabric would absorb the energy.

I'm chronoing my, at the time, Taipan Veteran .22 with the 28gr boattail slugs. I sent about 4 through the chrono - no issue. Then I put 3 more through but they just didn't sound the same. No thwack sounds when it hits the fabric. Turn out the pointed slug shape managed to push through the fabric and the last three slugs I shot went right through the back of the chrono, into the sheetrock wall, out the sheetrock wall on the other side and into the angled ceiling wall on the other side. I imagine it got stuck in the plywood or insulation under the roof. That was a real eye opener.
