My understanding is that honing your "air tube" really only helps break in your seal faster, and will probably hold a bit more of the silicone oil in the chamber. A ball hone may remove burrs and such, but won't really do much to correct a "mis-shapen" air chamber." Smoothing the edges of the "cut outs" is more efficiently handled with a fine stone/sanding cone and a Dremel. I recently honed the chambers on two of my Crosman NPs using a 400 grit flex hone. Each gun has several hundred shots through them, with no appreciable power increase over stock. If anything, my Extreme Spread on both guns has opened up a lot (higher number). I suspect the hone "may" have been too course, and ruined the new seal. We'll see when I take one apart.
