Hello to all,
I figured I would share this rough version of my target back stop and pellet catch to hopefully have some of you with a better tinkering mind enhance on this version 1.
The base is from silhouette targets from my pistol shooting. I then used some 2x2's for my frame, and enclosed all with 1/4" particle board. On the front I uses1/2"x1 to get some space between backstop and cardboard target face so the pellet would not tear the paper stapled to cardboard.
For the material on the back to stop the pellets I used puck board. The puck board is from the walls in a hockey rink, it's very hard and dense. I get mine from the local college hockey rink, they usually have scraps laying around and don't mind getting rid of it. I guess you could use a couple of cutting boards, but this is harder. I did two layers for assured safety.
If you look at the top by the carrying handle, you will see a piece of foam stuck in a hole that I use to empty the old pellets. I can do the same when I change out the front particle board when they are all shot up.
This target does have some weight to it, but it doesn't move around in the wind while sitting on the grass. It's portable and comes apart from base for easy transport.
I hope this helps with some ideas for some of you.
Thanks
Scott
