home made tank protection

I shared this last year and figured what the heck share again.

This has taken a beating with getting dropped, knocked over and beat about on off road adventures and never a issue or concern. If ou had to purchase the components to make one you will spend over a $100 but heck the tank setup is way more.

I wanted safety for me should any accident happen. I do not want a 4500 psi missile near me with a exposed and vulnerable

Hello, the parts are indeed pricey but being the Superintendent on big projects has it's perks !! All I had to do was ask if the plumber if he could set up a cash ticket at his supplier and I would go pay and he said no and brought them to me !! pays to treat workers nice I guess.

This tank transportation thing sure gives me peace of mind when hauling it on the off road excursions or on the boat and even just sitting in the shop. Never have to be concerned about an accident shearing the valve off and creating missile.

I had something similar but it offered zero protection for the valve and if you ever saw a tank get the valve sheared off thy become a nasty missile. I take my tank with me for refills when going on off road adventures and on my boat and heck whenever I feel I may get to shoot a little bit and wanted total protection and peace of mind for myself. I tend to be pretty rough with things and Mr Murphy is a frequent visitor !!! Now there is no thought about a perfect place for the tank I just plop it wherever it fits !!!

Ted thanks for the response I tried the saddle thing & wasn't happy . Then came up with the same idea , a few days later BigTinBoat posted the same thing about a year ago I think & he was in the same position as you , lucky guys ! Finally a friend of mine got me the pipe & bottom cap . I sewed together a padded head liner material with Velcro to wrap the bottle & put 2" memory foam on the top & bottom for protection . Being a welder for 37 yrs I know what you mean ( Missile ) I too needed a piece of mind . My plug works but still need to buy the threaded cap & coupling to be 100% satisfied . Just so many things to buy & do when just getting into this hobby & seeing it is endless LOL . Enjoy Darell

I used a old camping pad for the liner and covered it with some nice soft fleece from a blanket my daughter despised. Spray adhesive and a little trimming and the tank fits in just perfectly.

Thought about handles a while and at first did not want to compromise the waterproof aspect of the carrier but the clamp on handles just sucked with their protrusions that were hard. I drilled a couple holes in the lid and the sides \, used a old tie down strap and some heater hose for the handles.
