if you are talking about H&N's Heavy Matched "wadcutter" style of pellet, they are intended/designed to shoot paper. Literately. Waddcutters make a perfect hole in a paper target which makes it easy to score.
The BC on a wadcutter is horrendous because if it's flat front and bleeds of speed which affect stability (yada yada yada)
And of course it goes without saying, the gun shooting any pellet will come into play.
If you are looking into ammo for FT, do a search for FT match results of guns of your make and model. Some list gun, ammo, scope, etc used in the match.
But there can be a caveat.... I shoot a BSA R10 Mk2 in .177. While other FT shooters shot the JSB/AA in both 10.34 and 8.4 my gun hated them. Not one to give up on a BSA hammer forged barrel, I started tying all brands and weights of ammo. I found after about a hundred bucks worth the pellets, the 4.50 (not the traditional 4.52) head pellets by H&N worked the best and it shoots the 10.65 even better. I can cover a 10 shot group at 55 yards with a quarter.
But don't let me discourage you. Testing ammo is what makes airguns a great hobby.
