Been looking for a lightweight tactical scope but haven't had any luck. Maybe I'm missing something?

    Must haves-

    • side focus
    • mil-dot… no weirdo reticles or 1/2 mil-dots
    • focus down to 10 or 15 yards
    • under 20 ounces (under 18oz would be awesome)
    • no illumination -adds weight
    • 14, 15 or 16X magnification
    • first focal plane

    Thanks for reading :)

sorry did not see 1st focal plane, scope is cheap but for an airgun huntscope it works and is light. The same mag Hawke is way superior weight, sidewhell focusing range, clarity, and cost

      Here's my best option .

    https://customshop.leupold.com/configure/vx-3i-lrp-4-5-14x50mm-30mm-side-focus-mil-ffp/?s=1056&f%5B%5D=116&r=52&aw=48&ae=47

But you will need to check minimum focus with the custom shop . Great scope . I think . " Think " is 25 yard min.factory setting …But they can lower it

I'm interesting in following this thread topic along. I've been really debating switching to a FFP scope but the biggest thing that's holding me back is the weight on most all of the commonly used FFP scopes with airguns. Hawke, Athlon, SWFA, MTC, etc seem to hover in the high 20's to low 30 oz range. The current SFP scope on my Wildcat comes in at 19oz, so that's quite a noticeable jump in weight. JoeWayneRhea has a really interesting solution because I didn't realize you could have the Leupold custom shop reduce the minimum focus… I guess all I'm saying is good luck finding a FFP scope that can focus down to airgun distances while being sub 20 oz because I've been on the same hunt and haven't had much luck.

I've got a falcon m18+ and find it excellent for airgun shooting. Min focus around 10 m

4oz's over your max weight…  but may be worth a look.  SWFA SS 3-15X42ffp.  On sale for $524.96!

    Check it out:  https://swfa.com/swfa-ss-3-15×42-tactical-rifle-scope-3.html

    Great replies you guys :)

Oregun, I have seriously considered that SWFA scope but continued my search for something lighter.

Would love to find something in between Joe's very cool suggestion…

…and this little 13oz. bug buster.

A 16oz. 4-14x40mm FFP mil-dot that will focus down to 10 yards would be the cat's PJ's and a bullpup owners dream come true :)

Not quite your unicorn but this is another option but like the others will sacrifice one of the parameters with weight taking the priority here rather than magnifacation.

    Discovery vt3 3-12x44sf ffp scope

    weight 18oz.

    10 yard minimum distance

    length 10”

    first focal plane

    Side focus

    mil dot

    Around $200 from china

I ordered one and expect it around 2 weeks from today. Wish it had a touch more magnification but size and weight played the priority for me as I hope to purchase a .22 veteran shorty soon to put it on.  I wanted to keep everything smaller lighter otherwise it would be the swfa 3-15 ffp scope mentioned above.

Quality is questionable but Discovery has some great reviews.  Not high quality as the price dictates but my range is short and this should be just the ticket.

Now I just need the taipan and then try a wg760 from china for nv

    Discovery vt3 3-12x44sf ffp scope

I have this very scope on my impact and it's great. I don't care for the turret styling but the clarity, light transmission and accuracy are excellent. I had it zeroed at 35 yards in less than 60 seconds, only having to make 3 elevation changes. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Discovery-VT-3-3-12X44-SF-compact-First-Focal-Plane-Airgun-Hunting-Rifle-Scope-Optic-Shooting/32889905070.html

Edgun doesn't sell this particular model. I ordered from AliExpress on 7/18/18 and UPS delivered it to me on the right coast 7/26/18.

How is that 3-12 Disco at 75-100 yards?

How is that 3-12 Disco at 75-100 yards?

It looks good and the reticle is perfect for me… I just don't have room to shoot 100 yards at my house. This scope is a massive improvement over the Hawke Vantage IR 4-12×50 that I replaced with it. I like the Disco reticle 100x better.

I've been looking at the 4.5-18 Disco, but it's rated at 27 oz's. The 3-12 has a wider field of view, which I really like. Missed a squirrel shot a week ago because of late target aquisition. Not cool.
