Don't use a level when mounting a scope. Doing so relies on assumptions about a whole host of things that may or may not be true regarding the precision of manufacturing and fitment of parts.

A level comes into play _after_ the scope has been mounted.

See here for an easy way to deal with it:

I use the magazine well/breech if available with.a small precision bubble level. If not I use the picatinny rail. After the gun is leveled up I look at it from the front to see if it looks legit with the barrel and mount the scope so the vertical crosshair are parralell to a weighted plumb line string hanging from the ceiling or a branch. Once mounted and torqued down, it requires some shooting at various yardages (after sighting in) to see if everything is plumb with the barrel and scope. Very seldom are they not aligned this way.

Why is every thread OP created individually deleted?

Looks like they all got deleted a month ago. Maybe he/she is being considered for a cabinet position and thinks he/she is scrubbing their past?

(TRYING EXTREMELY HARD TO MAINTAIN COMPOSURE HERE)...

WOULDN'T IT BE JUST EASIER TO JUST DO A COLUMBO AND DELETE HIMSELF? THEN OPEN A NEW ACCOUNT AFTER THE VACATION?

LISTEN CAREFULLY TO THE LYRICS-
