Hey People, PLEASE BE SAFE!!!

I just sold some HP air flow related equipment & was surprised that even though some of the post responders weren't quite clear on its application & function they wanted to buy and, I guess, experiment. This is probably redundant on this forum but PLEASE BE SAFE & AWARE when dealing with the (very) High Pressures we utilize when owning/using airguns. Thankfully I don't remember reading in these forums of anyone getting hurt but SH-T HAPPENS! Take it EASY when filling & inspect your stuff frequently but above all use your brains & be "just a little scared or in awe" of HIGH PRESSURE. Have a great & safe airgunning life

When I was young we were stationed on Guam. This was the late 50's and SCUBA was just going main stream. Dad had a friend that he dove with. One day he knocked over a tank in his house and it broke the neck off the tank. Tank was full. House was cinder block. Tank got enough speed up going across the room to make it through the wall. It went airborne and flew 400 yards down the street where it entered another house. I don't recall the details from that point but nobody died.

So yeah, every time I look at that tank in the corner, I think, "Really, I should have that stored outside. Just in case of a fire or some sort of failure." Frankly I am not sure PCPs are worth that sort of trouble. But that is just me.

It's always good to think safety first. I remember a few years back when someone was modifying a Crosman and did not properly secure the valve when he converted the gun from from a co2 gun to a 3K PCP pipe bomb. Well the gun exploded while he was working on it and sent the valve pretty much all the way through his thigh! He tried to blame the parts but I looked for and never found any screws securing the valve in his video. It's plain there were none. OOPS! To think that he was actually selling these modified guns is just plain scary. He or someone else could just as easily been killed. So THINK SAFETY always and if you don't know what you are doing just don't do it. I am so glad he leaves this up to allow others to learn from his experience and not have to do it on their own it takes a good man to do that.

3000psi in a tube pushing on a .75 inch valve/projectile with a single #6 screw holding it did not werq out so well!

Hpa compressor and tanks are very safe. No need to over react about safety. If they are as dangerous as people claim. Wouldn't we hear on the news people getting blown up by hpa tanks and the gov will ban all hpa equipment? Lol. They are very safe. It's when dumbasses knock them over, shoot at them, drop them, put them in fires, modify them, overfill them, etc. If you use them for what they are built for. They are very safe. Lesson learned. Don't be that dumbass.

I have to object to the use of dumbass in this context. Or at least admit to the fact that we are ALL dumbasses at times. Don’t be critical of those who have made mistakes learn from them and be gracious.

I had a Browning over/under blow up in my hands because of mistakes I made reloading. I know exactly what I did . I was lucky not a mark on me not a scratch. You can say I was lucky , you can say it wasn’t my time, you can say the Lord was looking out for me. Truth be known I don’t know but if you think I’m a dumbass because it happened to me and that you or anyone else is too smart to have an accident then you may more likely fit the description.

No offense intended. Just suggesting you may not have thought through the application of that word.

That video of that leg wound was absolutely frightening. His happy demeanor after returning from the hospital was likely pain killers and local anesthetics. I’ll bet the next days not so good.

I think he was referring to people that know better than to do something but do it anyway. Not accidentally or out of ignorance/not understanding.

I understand and no offense taken. I’ve admitted my mistake and how lucky I was. I think a better use of the word DUMBASS for me at least would be a person who thinks it can’t happen to them .
