I experienced the same problem with UA and FX. 1st it was the Dreamline bullpup with carbon fibre bottle that was shown at the show you reference. I left a deposit with UA for 3 months waiting for that. UA was doing all they could to get the ordered rifle but always had to wait a shipment order from FX before they could gauge when the rifle would appear. I wanted a .25 and the first batch that came in were all .22. Somebody had to know that would be the case.
I gave up on the bullpup and wanted that Dreamlite Tactical Compact with folding stock. Also demonstrated at the same show. UA finally sent me a Tactical with a 600mm barrell. Totally angered by FXs repeated advertising with no product, I took the Tactical to a gunsmith and had the barrell shortened to 'almost' compact length.' For about $250. If I want the full compact I'll have to buy a folding stock adapter for $130. Don't do what I did. The gun shoots wonderfully with the shortened barrell but double check, even that doesn't help sometimes, and wait for what you want actually being in stock, or choose a different product. UA will take your deposit and it will get you on a list, but UA is as much in the dark about product supply as we are. It ain't UA folks. It's FX.
Of interest maybe, I have owned 5 different FX guns and still think they are the best gun when you can get what you want.
