Here's my scope mounting video.

I wanted to give making a mounting video a try. This is about the 6th time I've recorded this material it and it's still not perfect. Yesterdays take was drowned out by an icy snow storm (we call it grapple), todays was a battle with a wind storm blowing in during filming. Oh well, what can you do?!
There's more that could be added but, this should get most shooters the pertinent info to get the job done.

Hope you enjoy!

"Lou"Intersting, looks like hawke is not including the case anymore.
I noticed that right away too. I had a Sidewinder 8-32x56 years ago. I thought the little case was neat. But, then I got to thinking about it and realized that I never used my case for anything else while I had it. It just sat there, and was in the way, until I put the scope back in it to sell off. So, I'm actually glad they aren't including it anymore. :)
I'm happy they changed from the screw on caps. Those things worked very well but just took too long to remove.
Thanks for watching!

Same here, there is no point in selling a scope with the case, just makes it more expensive and shipping more expensive too, specially for us guys overseas lol The screw caps are nice, I have two mtc scopes that have those, unfortunately on the mtc they are not very well made so I am looking to upgrade to some butler creeks.

Cricket - My intent on this video was just about mounting and leveling and geared towards beginner shooters on up, and all rifles from low end up including powder burners.

The only "box test" I know of is used to test your scope to see if it is functioning properly. It goes something like this...
Basically, A center shot, then (using only the turrets) all 4 corners, then back to center. You should end up with a shot patten that looks like the 5 side on a dice.

...I read your post again and now I follow what you're saying, and it's a different test. That's a good suggestion that I haven't heard of before. I'm looking forward to trying it! However, beginner shooters might not have the highest quality of rifle and could end up scratching their heads wondering why things aren't lining up. I'm going to try your method out and maybe use it in a future video. Thanks!

Thanks for this video Tom. I've been using the Weaver scope mounting kit (the one with the levels that you attach to barrel and also a mini spirit level for the rifle) and it takes me forever. Even then I don't know if the level placed on the scope is accurate to the crosshairs. I checked my mount with your method and the crosshairs were canted. Corrected now.

HAHA! That is excellent! :)
Shooters like you are the reason I wanted to post this video. It gives you another method to use to double check your setup. Thanks for posting, I'm really glad it helped!
