Help with small air tank set up

Congrats on getting into PCP's! It's a great way to enjoy airgunning. Honestly, I would recommend you check into the certification the tank is built to. I can't really make out the text on the neck of the tank, but it looks like it might be something other than a DOT (USA) or TC (Canada) designation. I would try to find a tank that carries such a designation. There are several threads on this forum and others about the safety of using quality HPA (High Pressure Air) vessels. Just some food for thought.

Im with FunGun. Don't risk it.

It makes no sense to hand pump into a tank and then use the tank to transfer air. You are wasting pumped air in the fill lines. Use the hand pump directly into your air rifle, or discard the hand pump and get a more practical sized tank that can be filled at a retail outlet and give you many fills. Don't buy a scuba tank either. They are heavy and only fill to 3,000 psi which provide fewer fills. Get at least a 6.8Liter carbon fiber tank or even a 9 liter tank. I see bargains on the classified pages here and on the Yellow Forum with full tank and fill adapter setups at prices much lower than new retail. Get as new a tank as you can afford. Older tanks nearing their 15 year expiration dates are not a bargain, even if they appear to be so. I've been there, done that with every conceivable option. Learn from my mistakes. Buy once, cry once.

I Agree with others. Bite the bullet and get an Airhog. I wasted my money along the way, and ended up with a whole hog package anyway. 

Getting air gets complicated and expensive fast. With the Maximus you may want to think about just keeping your pump if everything is "peachy". As stated above, it makes no sense to pump the tank. 

Get the small tank if you can have a retail place to fill you up on the cheap. 

Look into a booster like the Altaros. 

If you are thinking of other guns though, figure out your air situation First. 

Please consider the Yong heng compressor! At 300 bucks it had become senseless and questionable to buy boosters when you can buy a reliable self contained unit like the Yong heng. I've had one for a few months now and it's been an incredible machine so far! 

Got to agree with Humdinger. Get the bigger tank. Don't pump the tank, hand pump the gun and fill the tank with a compressor, either commercially or get one of your own. If you want a compressor, give some consideration to researching 2 stage vs 4 stage compressors. 3 and 4 stage compressors usually have a much better MTBF. Mean time between failures.

I like using the booster, maybe one day I will get a compressor. As for questionable, I once thought so too, but they make sense for me once I Researched them. I don't think they are any more questionable than other opinions, each thing has pros & cons. The Yong Heng, how does it deal with moisture?
