Help me pick out a new gun.

I have a Marauder. Love it. shoots on a dime, quiet, efficient,
2 problems HEAVY, second its a little long. I can live with long but I don't have the strength to muscle a free hand shot any more.
I want a short , quiet (doesn't have to be as quiet as marauder but close) gun, 22 cal. accurate. no more than 7lbs w/ scope so it has to start out @ 5.5 or 6 lbs.
good trigger , no more than 3lbs preferable less.
I'm looking @ Talon SS 22 and also Wildcat, so you can see I'm open. Its not the cost (however there will be no 2K guns).
Walk around guns.
Any experience , advice, Go No Go, yea or nay, would be appreciated. Where to buy! I'm ready to pull the trigger just need a nudge or suggestion in the right direction.

I do not have any experience with the Talon but I can tell you I love my Wildcat. No issues to report after a year and about 1500 rounds. It is stupid accurate and easy to handle, transport, etc. Cocking lever is in the right place, good shot count and light to carry. (Depending on what you slap on it) I did end up putting a Huggett on it to make it a little more back yard friendly.

Another rifle I have been eyeballing is the Brocock Bantam. Little larger magazine, built in rail on the stock and the reviews on it seem pretty good. Worth a look. Maybe some that has the Brocock will comment, it looks really nice.

Wildcat, hands down without a doubt.
I've had a Talon SS in .22 - wouldn't group less than an inch at 40 yards. The only things I see as a + for the Talon is the ability to easily change power settings, and easy to customize/tinker around with.
I have a Wildcat in .25. I use it competitively for 75/100yd Extreme Bench Rest, Speed silhouette, and American Field Target. It's my go-to gun for quick pesting around the house too. It's easy to load the lower priced mags, you can also find on-board magazine holders for them. Comfy to shoulder and shoot. Built in carry handle. From what I've experienced the .22 is VERY light weight. The synthetic stock will be the lightest of the 3 stock options.
I could go on but, in my opinion, there's no contest between the two you mentioned. Go for the Wildcat.
The Wildcat uses a probe for filling so ask for one of these when you order.

In my opinion, you may consider Daystate Regal XL or Fx Wildcat.
1. Weight: Light weight, ~6 lbl. They both are walk around guns.
2. Length: Both are shorter than Marauder. Regal XL and Wildcat (.25) are almost same length (~35"). Wildcat (.22) is shoter.
3. Good triggers.
4. Accurate: My Regal XL (.22) is lightly more accurate than my Wildcat (.25) ...
5. Price: Regal XL ($999) is cheaper than Wildcat ($1,299 and up), so you can get a Regal XL with a good scope with the price of Wildcat.
6. Backyard friendly: My Wildcat is more quiet than my Regal XL even though My Wildcat is .25 cal
7. Cocking action: Regal XL is bolt action, and Wildcat is side-lever action. My Regal XL is a little hard to cock, and Wildcat is super smooth.
I have no idea about Talon ...
Kenny,

No 2K airguns but sounds like you could buy something, why not just grab an exxcelent backup rig that is better than just a back up rig?
Even some oif the big box stores around here now carry QB's ( Beeman branded or otherwise ) for right at $100.00 .
Grab a QB 79 - seems you can live with a single shot - , the 850psi Ninja regulated tanks ( 3,000psi reg. to 850psi) seem to be about $59.00 these days and the 1,100psi are $20ish more.
Fit & finish will amaze you, trigger wwill go to 1lb safely , light, chop an 1" off the barrel is needed but not a long rifle anyway, too simple to work on,
Out of all our lesser expensive rigs to choose from these days a lightly modded ( or not but "I" do recommend removing the , um, filter, from the valve) QB79 or 78-modded- is THE value.

I have a marauder .22 that shoots lights out, just a few years ago it was still light, I could also still hunt with my FT rifles nut now weight is of grand concern to me, purchased most of the lesser $$ rigs, most of the lighter rigs ( under 2K) , love the RAW on days I can carry it to the bench but my QB78 ( converted to a tank ) is my go to going to go have some fun rifle.

(note I sure cant get in such a proper shooting position today)

Then when you have you regulated under $200 rig you can really take the time to get with some other airgun folks & shoot what they have, or, whatever research is good for you regarding your next purchase. I'm in Eastern WA & your welcome to shoot anything in the house.

Keep us posted.

Try and look into the Mutant short in 22 ,
Your not going to find a used one they just do not come up for sale.
I think Tony or R&L has them on sale for 1,195
I call it the Mutant trap, Find one person that owns one, That has a problem with the gun,
Your not going to find anyone!!!!!!! That should tell you something.
I got the 22 and have an order in on a 25 shorty ,
That's four PCPs and that's two over the limit.
Cricket 22 and 25 , Mutant 22 short and a 25 short on the way,
Mike

CZ S200 Hunter-light, accurate efficient on air. The magazine system doesn't cycle well with some pellets (JSBs are fine) and there's no safety, you'll also need a an aftermarket moderator.

Thanks, Ive looked @ them. 1lb lighter than marauder , throw a 1 1/2LB scope and your right back up there! I realize a different balance point. I watch the videos and the way they drag them around. Long barrel. I'd like to try one out to see the difference in "feel". I think there is no perfect gun , like shoes, you have to try them on. I do LIKE the barrel change option. Really a quandary with all our options. I have to stop and get centered up in exactly I'm trying to achieve with a new gun! (Been lifting weights)

How about an older Brocock Contour? Or a tuned Marauder Pistol?

One thing you might consider is that weight "doesn't count as much" when it is more rearward. When it's toward the muzzle, the weight is multiplied by the effect of the length acting as a lever. I think a Brocock Compatto is an excellent choice. Probably not quite as light as you originally specified, but it FEELS a lot lighter.

I got a Compatto to replace my Marauder, and actually did a comparison review before the Marauder was sold. Maybe it'll be helpful?
