Help me pick a Big Bore

I'm not new to airguns or big bores, just seemingly so here. I was around 15-20 years ago on the Yellow and TAG. I've owned 3 big bore Quackenbushes (.308, 458, .50) and Airforce (.25) rifles in the past that I stupidly sold. I have a Hammer for sale in the classifieds and I'm looking for something else.

I've tried to get some answers to questions I have, from Extreme Big Bores, but Angela's customer service skills are seeminly lacking. So here I am.

I'm wanting a .40+ caliber that will hit 400+FPE at 850+ FPS, maintain at least 2-3 MOA to 100 yards, yet keep OAL to around 40".

My first thought was the Extreme .457 at 24" in the tactical chassis. Can any one of you tell me the potential energy and accuracy in the 24" barrel and the weight difference of the tactical chassis versus their laminate stocks? The quality seems to be there. What is the thread size on the muzzle?

My second thought was the AEA Zues .72 in a 16" barrel. What is the accuracy and power potential in that configuration? Are they quality?

I haven't been around on the net in a very long time. Maybe there is/are other models that would fit the bill?

Thanks

Hi yeah customer is a real problem with them!! thats why i bought a pbba 20ga!!! good gun! i would not go with aea!! i have a challenger sl 9mm it works but polymags only 1" @100 .> also recluse 9mm going to send it to Will , but shoots a nsa 93gr 900ish over 6 shots sub 1 moa @100 bought it used . i am also lookin for a western brushbuck good word on them?! good luck paperp

My stock Airforce Texan Tx2 valve .510 34 inch barrel will shoot 650 grain spire point boat tails at 750 fps. b.c of around .5 I don't think any of the other 50 will hang with the texan.and most are 4500 psi fills. The Texans with African Air Oridance 4500 psi upgrade are the king of speed and foot pounds in the big bores. The hatsun pile driver seem to be the best option of 4500 psi fill regular gun configuration.

Thanks for the reply's fellas.

Really looking for something bigger than 9mm but I have checked out the AEA Challengers too.

I forgot to mention the Texan CF... it's also a consideration. The MadDog stock looks pretty good. I had a "LeMak?" (similar) on my old Condor. Back before they made it in .25 and we were converting them ourselves. 100 FPE or so. I would want the CF tank with updated valve but a shorter barrel in .510... since I'm already casting from a Lee 515-500 sized down to .510. Dropping at 521 grains in 40:1 alloy. Anyone making custom barrels for these currently?

That AAA fits the bill and is nice, but it's more than I'm wanting to spend. Thanks for showing me.

For fun. My old DAQ's. Missing that .458 Select/Laminate.

First time hearing of anyone who knew Lemack in a while. He had some crazy stuff back in the day. I was there on the TAG as well when Tim (Wilson, I believe) was first doing conversions to .25 and some were using an old socket as a hammer in those guns. Before many folks were making bits for them.

I think your question has been answered mostly with the Texan Carbine. I've got the full sized version and often wished I'd gotten the carbine. I've got the older one with the non TX valve and it's still plenty for me.

Hey Airtight I remember you from the old tag days and tagdagger I believe who came up with the arrow shooting setup for the AF rifles, I have a Texan 457 that was the full length rifle that I cut 4" off the barrel and frame to make to make a handier tree stand and ground blind gun I recrowned the barrel and shooting NSA 196gr hp making 960 fps on a 3600psi fill for 401fpe, I also upgraded to a 4500psi CF bottle and removed the spring and brass nut in the valve and put it in a Maddog stock I can put 2 shots in a 2" bullseye at 100 yards.

That was Tagdagger... I've got one of those arrow slingers. It's a beast. I keep it on low-mid power and I'm throwing arrows out over 450fps with it!

Yep, Nate... still watch your vids. Not to hijack this thread, but I ended up changing the barrel on that TC35 and it's a shooter now for sure. Trigger still blows donkey balls, but Pluric was kind enough to send me the teeny tiny allen head to adjust it.

Been wanting a Zeus just for the novelty of it, but I know I'd shoot it a little bit and then only bring it out for wow factor with company... haha

American Air Arms .452 Slayer T-Rex. 28" barrel, 550 titanium tube,700fpe, sidelever 5 round rotary magazine.

The .452 Slayer is my vote as well, but @ATP will have to contact Tom Costan and see if he is still taking limited orders for them. Last he told me, he wasn't taking any more orders, but this may have changed now that the Evol line is selling well.
