help me make a airgun choice ...brocock bantam 22 or fx streamline 22...

I have a gun I'm trading in and I will be left with a condor ss 25 and brocock compatto 22. One of my issues is I don't want extremely loud and i want high shot count (compatto has short shot count) I just watched Steve's review of the streamline which didn't seem that loud. the bantam has a reflex on it that I'm learning does basically nothing to the sound. Also I wouldn't mind having one traditional rifle....tell me your thoughts . thanks

Generally speaking, FXs tend to have very low mechanical noise. At least the ones that I have owned with their free floating hammer designs.

The Brocock and the Streamline are two different styles of guns, traditional sporter vs semi-bullpup. So your preference in ergonomics and intended use will come into play for your decision.

With the increasingly easier access to well designed LDCs, it is much easier to quiet the noise emanating from the barrel than the mechanical noise that some guns produce.

If you want a traditional rifle....FX Streamline. Light weight, easy to carry. I would not necessarily recommend putting a bipod on it, just my opinion. I would put a Donny SUMO on it. The streamline is not what I would call real loud without it, but it does have a bark without it. With it on, all you really here is a PHFFT sound. Very backyard friendly. Most of my targets are at 30yds and I've got squirrels at the same distance that don't even give me a second glance as long as I stay at my bench. The sound does not bother them at all. Not to mention my neighbors. At 30 yards, the gun is very capable of literally hole in hole accuracy. Just my 2cents. Good luck and keep us informed of which way you go.
(EDIT: I assume you only wanted opinions between the two guns listed in your thread subject, keep that in mind)

I think you have to answer yourself some questions of priorities if you will. The Streamline is regulated, the Bantam is not. The reflex may need to be removed & replaced with a Sumo. How many shots do you really want to get out of the gun? How long or short do you want the gun to be. Are you down to only these two? There are other very quiet and accurate guns. My K. Cricket Mini is very quiet, not very long, and very very accurate. The Mutants are said to be very quiet, and they are tiny.

The question is what is the main use for this new rifle. Are you mainly target shooting? at what distance are you shooting? are you doing any hunting with and if so what game and conditions. Sounds like you are mainly target shooting. If so and you want a high shot count I would not get a rifle without a regulator. The Brocock Bantam does not have a regulator and even though it says it get about 70 shots per fill that will be in a rainbow range of fps. The sweet spot will only be for about 30 to 40 shots depending on your desired spread of velocity. Check out my posts recently on the FX Streamline .22 cal I just got. I wanted a new rifle mainly plinking/target shooting. I considered the Bantam but decided against it because it did not have a regulator. I get 60 consistent regulated shots on high power plus this is only on 190cc of air verse the Bantam which uses a whopping 480cc of air. If I switch to medium power I get almost 100 regulated shots that are plenty accurate out to 50 yards. The FX Streamline has so much going for it, the only drawback for me was having to add the moderator to make it backyard friendly. This made the rifle longer but since it is mainly a bench gun the extra length does not matter as much. Airgun Bill
I will include a link to a good Brocock Bantam review to see the shot count and power curve.

You made a good choice, syn, walnut or laminate? Be like me though and get both. My Bantam is a 177 and gets 140 high power shots per fill and a lot more on low. The 22 Streamline gets good shot count too, especially on low and medium. The slimness of the streamline feels nice in the right hand, whereas the bantam feels a bit thick due to the bottle.

I guess you already have Brocock covered since you own a Compatto.
