Help me find my new big bore...

I just cancelled my Raptor .257 order due to 1) the overly long wait and 2) the disappointing reports by another member in a thread who received a .257 HP and was maxing out in the upper 120fpe range. I've decided that I want something with gobs more fpe for target shooting and taking care of rotten fruit and the like. 

Here are my wants:

  • At least 300 fpe. Would prefer something around ~500 fpe with maybe a low setting.
  • Min 357 caliber, but prefer the .452-.457 range.
  • The more shots per fill the better.
  • The shorter the better.

Some rifles I have no interest in: anything Texan and the Benji Bulldog - I prefer a nicer aesthetic. 

What have I looked at:

  • Western Big Bore Bushback - seems to tick all the wants but is really long.
  • Air Arms 452 Slayer Bullpup in Hunter config - OMG sweet gun, willing to pay for it, but out of stock and even the 357 Slayer has a 6 month build time - seems worth the wait though. 

I'm am very open to honest opinions on the above two rifles. Let me know of any other rifles I should look at.

After a really long wait I finally received my AAA .357 slayer and it was worth the wait...but to be honest I was getting a little worried about not getting the gun after all of the other members who said they did not receive there slayer. 

The slayer is very accurate shooting the Nielsen 142gr slugs. my gun is tuned at 970 fps which is close to what your looking for in fpe. 

I was also looking at the Texan .457 but now with the .50 and mister hollowpoint doing some testing with the slugs he makes, I just might order a Texan 50 cal and have Neil Clague make me a moderator. The only thing is that the Texan is long, longer than what I would like. I know the Texan makes a carbine version which is shorter but not in the 50 yet (hoping the will make it) If you can wait and I mean wait the slayer is a awesome gun. Hope this helps...
