Help me decide on the PCP for me.

Okay well after much debate it's that time I need to purchase a PCP rifle looking for the entry level QB Chief from Beeman.

This one will have a wood stock the question is should I purchase the QB Chief one or the QB Chief two?

From looking at it the QB Chief 2 barrel sits slightly higher and I don't know that I like that look but from what I understand the QB Chief 2 is a semi-automatic. It also seems that the QB Chief too has some sort of baffle on the end.

What are your thoughts guys before I pull the trigger?

i like the cheify weify ..semi auto i dunno about all that .. it is what it is, if its like mine the accuracy is an acceptable 1" or so at 50, it will get about 2 clips per fill, is factory tuned anyway to alittle less than max fill, it does best in the middle, and the finish although nice isnt an extremely durable one so be real careful how you handle it and itl be aight ... the silencer on mine wasnt aligned well it drooped way off center and its epoxied on .. break out the heat gun and very carefully heated it up so the surface didnt get cooked and bent it to perfecto ..

*oh and one last thing, the mags seem to be picky about pellet shape, especially i noticed pointed pellets can snag and cause a jam thats a pita to undo, requires disassembly of the mag usually ... so theres the skinny .. other than a couple quirks its a good gun to go burn some pellets up with popping various garbage in the backyard lol .. squirrly better not show himself either the chiefy is capable ..

I am leaning towards the original Beeman chief and not the chief 2 with 10shot magazine. Are there any others out there worth looking at? Benjamin? Diana storm rider?

I thought about it and I have a few good reasons.

1. I want to mount a scope. The rotary mag is raised above the barrel and may cause an issues. Big issue for me. The rifle must use a scope.

2. This is going to be a squirrel hunting rifle and fun target shooting. Don't know if I need the 10 shots. Though let's face it it is nice like a true powder burner rifle with a mag. And if it wasn't for point 1 above I would want a magazine fed gun for certain.

Dude I love the Beeman qb chief. However if you go with a maximus it's going to be lighter like 2lbs lighter and get the same power and shot count. Plus you get the Crosman warranty. Nothing wrong with the chief and if you went with it I'd go chief 1 not 2. My reasons are speculation that the barrel is going to have some travel. I base this on experience with other guns and could be wrong. That barrel being so much higher than the stock and resting on that Pyramid style barrel band makes me nervous. That being said I have no idea never shot one. I would highly recommend getting the fortitude if you had an extra 100 bucks. It just offers so much more. Lightweight, proven magazine design. Prod style action, 5 year warranty, regulator, quiet shrouded barrel..... I think they are great.

I don't mean to sound elitist, but I always cringe when I see someone getting started with an inexpensive PCP. You might get one and have a great experience, I hope so. If you are reasonably sure that you want to get started in it as a serious hobby, I suggest that you save up, and start higher. You might find a good used rifle, such as a Daystate Regal, FX Royale, or Weihrauch HW 100. These are all proven platforms, generally very accurate, good triggers, etc. Just something to consider.

Get what appeals to your eye & feels right in your gut (after research). Everyone has to start SOMEWHERE! Personally I too would recommend the FX Royale 400 (.22) or, better yet, the Royale 500 (.25). You CANNOT go wrong with these (unless you want to tinker, these guns are non-tinkerers). Just point & shoot, straight out of the box! Ask ANY Royale or Boss owners.

I got 2 Beeman chief 2s In a row that leaked and got my money back and bought a Benjamin fortitude generation two that has never gave me any problems after 4 1/2 years of use.A scope will work OK on the Beeman because I had one on mine. Just couldn’t except two in a row that leaked. And Benjamin gives you a five year warranty with no questions asked. My first PCP rifle was a Maximus with no problems after six years of use.

Warranty is important to me so I think I will settle for the maximus. It has a clearly stated easy to find warranty. Beeman and diana are harder to find.

I really wanted a wood stock. There are no Benjamin discovery to be found.

The trigger pull is less than ideal but good news is there area after market offerings.

I don't want to spend the money on a Marauder or better but I also don't want to spend 200 bucks and have it break in 6 months with no idea of where to send it and what their return policy is.

Benjamin is simple 5 years of coverage. I pay for shipping to the facility they pay for shipping back to me.

I want to thank everyone for the great advice. In the end it's a no brainer.

If they are in stock at crosman,You should buy from them and use the AGNATION Code and save yourself some money. I think that’s the code you use, but if not there are people on here that definitely know the code.

You can smooth the trigger mechanism out by polishing the contact points and Lube it up also. Very easy to do.The first time I did it I just watched a YouTube video. Just take the side plate off and everything is right there. I also bought one of those Chinese made hand pumps off of eBay for $45 and it is still working good after six years also. But I had to upgrade to a compressor because I have guns with bigger tanks on them now. I just keep the hand pump for a back up.

Thank you very much! I was literally on that website about to enter my credit card information when I refreshed the forum page and notice the discount code you posted which saved me a significant amount of money!

I could not be happier excellent!!

I just watched a video that showed a 1.5 pound pull on the stock trigger. I'm looking forward to tinkering with this gun.
