HELP...!!! Edgun EDMU Wiring...

I hate this digital gauge, two batteries in two months, never shuts off, or rarely... Expensive Junk... I need to order an analog guage to replace it, unfortunately it's not a standard thread... In the meantime I need to repair the wires between the sensor and circuit board, if anyone has the wiring diagram for the four leads or can take a look and make a diagram, I would certainly appreciate any help...

Thanks... Ken

On the Edgun website, under resources, there is a manual for the EDMU gage or you can give Brian a call and ask him what you need to fix it. Is it still under warranty?

Don't know what the problem is with the gage not shutting off … mine goes off after a very short amount of time and I have had it for about 18 months, never changed batteries yet.

John

If you purchased it from EDgun West, and the gauge is defective, then it should be covered under warranty.

Some people prefer analog gauges over EDMU's. I have both & I enjoy tracking the exact pressure with the EDMU, but if you're not into that then an analogue gauge should work fine. I think they're about $40 Give Brian a call 714 267 7604

Yeah, it's been a bad unit from day one, I already returned one Leshiy, a couple other SNAFUs with Edgun West, problem is I like my Leshiy… I should probably mention what brought all this about, was shooting the Leshiy yesterday, was fine, put it away for the night, wake up this morning and the gauge shows a small rectangle and wouldn't turn off... I did need to air it up, try filling air tube and the check valve wouldn't open... Then it starts leaking after I cycled the firing twice...

So, bled all the air out of air tube and am cleaning and reassembling it... My air tube has quite a bit of thick white grease inside, too much I think for factory assembly... Gauge wire broke, can fix if had the pin outs...

Time to look it all over, clean and reassemble, only thing I ever did was change out the regulator to a Huma, been working fine until this AM...

Ken

Update: fixed the leak it seems with a good cleaning, fresh silicone grease and reassembly... It also takes air again, test fire soon, I did adjust the Huma regulator down to 110 from 120 as set from factory, I want to quiet it down some and slow it down for <50 yards... I will have to look for the wiring diagram for the display to circuit board,,,

Testing...

The EDMUs that I have had have all had issues, to the point where I prefer a good Wika gauge. Even when the EDMU worked, it ended up being a novelty and not useful in my shooting, plus when you want to just flip the gun over and look at pressure and then keep shooting, you can't do that and need button press(s). Additionally, if the pressure cell oring develops a leak, there is no way, without special unobtainium tools, to remove it to replace the oring. Even Brian at EDgun West does not have the special tool. If you actually use your gun other than on the bench, the plastic face cover will soon be scratched and crazed, to the point where it not only looks bad but is hard to read. I guess if all you do is shoot on the bench and not get out hunting it might be useful...

I really just need a good pressure gauge for quick reading... I have a problem buying a Wika from Edgun West for a brand new rifle with a bum gauge... I would like to source one elsewhere... I do have the correct tool for removing that o-ring… It is part of a Diving O-Ring kit... I will see if I can find a link...

Ken

Edit: here's a link to the kit I have which contains a brass pick for removing O-rings... I have a similar dental type pick that works too... or make one with a long sewing needle, need to curl the very tip to make a "snag"...

No, I am talking about the oring under the pressure plate inside the EDMU. When you remove the face, then the battery, under that area is the pressure plate that converts pressure to an electrical signal. There is an oring under it that on some EDMUs can develop a leak, like any other oring. To get that pressure plate off, you need a three pronged tool very similar to a circlip plyers but with three prongs, not two.

I read that as meaning: buy a wika...

Thank you... Ken

I do appreciate the help, I want everyone to know that I do utilize the information and help I get here, I will share the repair I'm doing...

An old man told me something when I was young he said "tools don't cost money, they make you money, either by saving time or repair expense" there was more but that was the gist of it...

Anyhoo, here's how I am repairing this gauge, I have good soldering skills and good tools, I started by removing the old wires and cleaning up the terminals with a de-soldering tool...

I then found some suitable gauge wire, I am using four different colors VS the single color (white) as was stock... I just needed the wiring diagram to finish...

Now that I have that I will see if I can finish the repair and have a working EDMU again...

I'll post a couple more photos...

Here's a photo of my soldering station, I've set it up again so I can try and finish this repair...

A good magnifying lamp and some work holding stuff really helps when working on these small circuit boards...

One side of my work holding setup is a thin heat sink clamp, the other side holding the circuit board is a soft jaw micro clamp, the EDMU gauge is sitting in a "bench block", very handy, used by machinists, jewelers etc...

Next I need to remove the wires from the gauge side and clean up the terminals...
