After installing a Huma regulator I have a constant leak where the valve body and air cylinder screw together. Per the instructions I filed a notch in the threads of the valve and also of the cylinder to vent it . Had to reinstall the o- ring on the valve body to stop the leak . Doesn't this cancel out the effect of a regulator? I need help .

Do the instructions specifically say to leave out the o-ring? I would just run it over the crony see how it does. I've seen regulators only requiring tightening UP the cylinder then backing it out 1/4-1/3 turn without any filing or drilling any vent hole. Yo!

Yes if it is leaking through the threads and you put that oring back on the valve body it is no longer regulated.
It sounds like one of the 3 orings on the regulator is leaking. I would check all 3 and put some silicone lube on them before you reinstall it

All the instructions specifically say to remove the o-ring on valve body . It leaks thru the grooves I cut in the threads. There's something I'm missing here.

right: it is necessary to remove the o-ring, because the regulator needs to have a chamber at atmosfpheric pressure.
I'm building a regulator myself, with the same working type of the Huma...and I've to remove the oring too....and I've some little leak too
(I loose about 10bar/week...not so much)
