Helix scope

So I got the AIM alpha 6 today and very happy with it. Minor annoyances but over al very clear scope with just about everything being very nice. I might order a helix for giggles later but for now I’m quite happy with the AIm scope. Thanks Yo!

Inquiring minds want to know, what are the minor annoyances?

ok the biggest annoyance is the turrets can’t be zeroed a lot of the time. The gear/teeth for zeroing the scope doesn’t have the granularity of the turrets marking. So good chance when you zeroing and put the turrets back on it would be couple of clicks off. If you use turrrest stickers then this may not be a deal breaker.

If you like the Sightron S-TACs or CLEAR Filipino scopes in general that's what the $130-$160 Vectors clarity looks like best I can compare them to the Sightron S-TACs.

The Aim Sports Alpha6 both models and both JSARs are very similar in clarity to the Bushnell Forge at budget friendly price for what you get thats clearer than most $650 and under popular side focus Airgun scopes most AIRGUNNERS like buy because they don't mind spending more money for atheir favorite name brand Chinese made scopes with chromatic aberration and milkyness at high power.

That's exactly "WHY" a scope shouldn't be chosen for one aspect that might be it's finest attribute!

For me there's been so many reasons I sold most of the scopes I've owned, including expensive ones, because often only "ONE" thing can ruin the entire pleasure of the ownership experience. I sold a S&B 3-20x50 because the reticle thickness was too fine on 3x and 4x to make it out. That particular scope tracked perfectly and had absolutely awesome glass in it! Superb in every way except the reticle didn't work for this scope. If I had picked the H2CMR reticle I would have been fine.

What is often overlooked is a riflescope is a optical gunsight, not a spotting scope, so it must accomplish many things well all at the same time, tracking being a high priority on that list, and other aspects at least as well.

The biggest "FAIL" I've seen that was the most disappointing to me was a $450 scope I assessed that had a 1 in 3 chance of sighting in to 0 because the number of splines in the turret didn't match that same number on the splined turret stem!!! Not only that but the 1/4 moa lines never lined up with the lines on the housing. If I had bought that scope I would have sent it back immediately! Take that same scope and compare it to a Midas TAC, which isn't much more $ and there's "NO COMPARISON", the TAC acts like a $1500 scope and the other one a $200 scope.

It's crazy what people will put up with. But we all learn as we go.

FINALLY received the element helix scope, couldn’t believe it since it has been so long!

sat down and looked through 3 scopes I have on hand: cortex diamond back tac 4-16, AIM alpha-6 4.5-27 and then Helix.

- optically the AIM Alpha 6 has slight advantage with slightly bigger eye box, slightly brighter and better color and obviously higher magnification. Difference no where near the difference when going from the vortex DB to Alpha 6 or helix.
- turret wise the element helix is better hands down! Haven’t tested tracking yet though but the clicks are positive, love the revolution marker but no locking. However turrets have very firm clicks so locking turrets might not needed. Took off the cap and the locking rings are definitely stainless steel, looks Almost exactly like the one on Nexus, there is slight play but doesn’t move the reticle.

- feature wise the Helix wins handily. Everything is either in yards or meter, everything makes sense. Only thing lacking is illuminated reticle but it’s not FFP so it’s very easy to see and don’t really need it.

had the AIM alpha 6 had better turrets I wouldn’t of ordered the Helix at all. BUT the scope of sum of all things on the scope and I think the Helix definitely delivers in value and performance especially when it comes to the turrets. I have yet to test out the turrets but from the feel of things and zeroing in my impact it is very promising.

PLUS I sure don’t mind supporting Ted and Matt whom I’ve learned a lot from. I really got into air gun and enjoyed it tremendously thanks to them, especially Matt.

My Helix review will be public next week . I just have a lite final edits to do . Ranger 1 said my main take away from it . The Eyebox is small . Trust me when you film thru scopes as much as I do you notice . Turrets about what you would expect in a $400 scope . For a $400 SFP scope it's a good solid buy .. But it wouldn't be my very top pick I don't think . It's well above average . And I do like the zero stop and the reticle . But the small Eyebox might make me think twice . I'll post video link here when it's finished before it's public .

Joe: are you saying the turrets are average for 400 dollar scope? Yes, it does have play but it has stainless steel internals and seems to have good design for hunters and still average in your opinion? Turrets are the main reason I ordered it, a little bigger eye box or clearer isn’t as important for me but I really need good turrets since I suck at hold over.

Wait till you get your hands on that $299 (on sale at SWFA) JAPAN BUSHNELL TAC 5-15x40 AO... Only a $699 SWFA SS 3-15x42 can edge that one out and you may not even be able to differentiate the winner in clarity and brightness and eyebox and clicks... Do you have an SWFA SS 3-15x42 to do a side by side?

If that scope turn Out to be a pice of sh--- im goin to be so fu---- mad -- the least i espect is to be as good as my arken 4x14x44 - a $350 dólar scope shipped ..i just wanted a little More magnification in a 50mm objective...56mm is to big for me to use in bulpubs..n i like the reticle .. there is no excuse for a bad product other than greed because arken deliver a estelar product for a good price for airguning...will se mine arrives Next week ..
